    I'm driving a rental, he's in Rehab.

    It can always be worse.
    Oh I am so sorry.

No, but the concept of hell being talked about in the OP - endless and eternal suffering - stems from one religious tradition in our society. (I am not aware of any such in any other society, either, though I could be missing something, there.)

There are many interesting perceptions in this thread. I'm of the same mindset as the one who said "an eternity singing hosannas." That doesn't appeal to me either. My understanding is there are angels created specifically for that role.

I have a little device that looks a bit like an oversized hockey puck. Its name is Alexa. If I say, "Alexa, play oldies," it will play oldies until I tell it to stop. I haven't tried saying "sing hosannas," but I'm pretty sure it would work. If not, I could say, "play gospel" and it would.

    So, who needs angels?

The Bible is a work of fiction.
