I need a more reputable source before I would comment on this.

I always found that statement to be one of the more ridiculous thing religious people say. I have a personal relationship with Jesus. WTF, you have an imaginary friend?

It's up there with "god fearing." God is supposed to love you, why would you fear him/her

That's like asking a single teenager who's never even been on a date what it feels like to be married.

I don't think your opinion really matters on this subject, of course you will never get it.

Nothing new, all Popes' have said the Church is the rock of faith. They don't believe in lone wolves. How else would they stay in business if you cut out the middle man?

Only an Anti-Christ would mislead people in that manner. So, Catholics need to beware of that man. Instead of the pope being humble and trying to steer more Catholics to Christ, he says that. That is dangerous and people need to sure know and understand that!

I'm an atheist, but I have to say I agree with the Pope. Having a "personal relationship with Jesus" is the height of arrogance. "I have direct, personal conversations with the creator of all things, the all knowing, all seeing, all powerful supreme being talks directly TO ME on the DAILY, YO!" That is dangerous. People who think they are that fucking special are first in line to make excuses for why they don't need to actually do all the stuff in the Bible that Christians are supposed to do. They don't need to live a life of humble subsistence, or turn the other cheek. In general, they get to be hypocritical whenever it suits them because after all, THEY TALK TO JESUS DAILY and they are pretty sure that he's cool with it since they are buds.

I think that's kind of his point. Rather than spend your energy with "your personal Jesus" people who claim to be Christian should spend it trying to live the humble, unencumbered, and charitable life that Jesus advocated, and quit kidding themselves.

    We do.

Your problem is you think all Christians are alike.

    That is dangerous thinking.

The left takes the worse people claiming to be Christian and applies it to the rest of us to fit their agenda of their war on Christianity.

I don't think all Christians are alike. I think Christians who think they have a personal Jesus relationship are really just lying to themselves. I think that was the Pope's point too. They aren't being humble at all. They are encouraging themselves to be prideful and self-important.

The problem that most Democrats had with Bernie's Vatican visit was that it was basically a family vacation paid for with presidential campaign donations. Bernie has been in trouble before for illegally diverting campaign funds to his family members. The scam that his wife pulled off with that little college in Vermont might well spell the end of his political career.
