So what? We'd still have factions within the religion, each of whom would insist that their particular version of Sol Invictus worship was the only "true" version. This is hardly unique to Christianity.

    Of course.

But my faction of the worship of Sol Invictus would be superior to your faction. Mine would be the true religion, and yours would be inferior.

I happen to be Catholic and those who say I'm not a Christian are using their own definition to excoriate those who are not "Christian" enough. Last time I checked, it was first and foremost about loving and having faith in God.

    My two cents,Amen.

Religion can be discussed logically within its own context, however. It just falls apart when one tries to use religion to describe the phenomenal world, which is what science and logic are for.

Don't sweat it. They have no idea either, because it's meaningless.

I'm not saying that's how it is, but that's how she thinks it is.
The real joke of it is Catholics don't really worship any of those things, including Jesus. It's the least religious of all the Christian religions, in my opinion. For most Catholics, their religion is like being Irish or Italian. It's something that one is supposed to be proud of being (pride is of course a deadly sin, so Catholics created something called "good pride") but not something that really affects how one lives his life. Most Catholics spend the hour every Sunday (if they go—most don't but still consider themselves Catholic) daydreaming and checking out whoever they think is hot as they go up for communion.

Dogmatically, of course Catholics worship Jesus.

Culturally, of course many/most adherents are motivated by "tribal" affinity, not spirituality, in their self-identification as Catholic.

Yes it is. And he has closed it down when it could hold over 16,000 people trying to find shelter from the massive floods.
