Intelligent religious people recognize that the Judaeo-Christian Bible (both testaments) contain bits that proscribe positive, beneficial behavior ... and bits that proscribe reprehensible, sociopathic behavior. And decent religious people are smart enough to gloss over the reprehensible bits, or re-interpret them as metaphors.

He conveniently left out the entire purpose of what is revealed in the NT. Though you can still explore Romans 1

The Old Testament was written by Jews influenced by God. Stories of the flood, Abraham the father of the Jews, Leviticus the law, Many books of Prophets, Proverbs for wisdom, Psalms or songs from David. The Old Testament is said to be of value to Christians for the foretelling of the coming Messiah. The New Testament is the story of the Messiah which is the New Covenant . Jews lived under the law, Christians do not live under Old Testament laws the same as Jews. Christians are influenced by Old Testament laws because the same God influenced the Jews to write those laws. Assuming Christians should stone Gays because Jews did is not relevant. Jews had punishments for those laws 1000 years before Christianity began and Christianity never was a Theocracy like Judaism was.

He didn't make all things great and small? This is news! The malaria bug has to live too, and who do people pray to when they pray for rain?

Is God all-powerful? Does he have the power to effortlessly eradicate these terrible natural events and diseases with literally no effort? If so, then yes - he's responsible for these things.
Thanks from Dangermouse and Ian Jeffrey
