    Thank God Gnostic Christians can.

It seems John Lennon was correct when he said the only good Christian is a Gnostic Christian.

Is gnostic the opposite of ignostic?

I do not think John was nearly as immoral as the Roman created Jesus. That Jesus' view on divorce and substitutionary punishment make him quite immoral.

The other Jesus, the one whose ways I follow, is quite good though and likely close to John Lennon's level.

It is impossible for me to know which was superior to the other though.

The other one? When did he live and what did he look like? Do you have any pictures?

I remember a couple of churches that condemned a couple radio stations for playing his Imagine. Can you imagine that?

No heaven, no hell, no religion, above us only sky .... yeah... actually I'm surprised the song isn't more dispised by the religiously nutty than it is.

Bill Moyers Journal . Watch & Listen | PBS

Rabbi Hillel, the older contemporary of Jesus, said that when asked to sum up the whole of Jewish teaching, while he stood on one leg, said, "The Golden Rule. That which is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor. That is the Torah. And everything else is only commentary. Now, go and study it."

Please listen as to what is said about literal reading.

"Origen, the great second or third century Greek commentator on the Bible said that it is absolutely impossible to take these texts literally. You simply cannot do so. And he said, "God has put these sort of conundrums and paradoxes in so that we are forced to seek a deeper meaning."

Matt 7;12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

I might be missing the moral value. Can you put them in your own words?

No as Jesus is just an archetypal good man and there are thousands of them.
Hero of a thousand faces as Joseph Campbell calls them.

In the Bible, there are at least two that are easily discernible.
