Oh I don't know. I can remember when those Hari Krishna types made it a pain to walk downtown or through an airport.
    Thanks from Ian Jeffrey

God! That's been, like, 40 years ago. And all they wanted was to give everyone flowers. Annoying, but at least they weren't trying to convert you.

I got into a discussion with one of them. Seemed like he was trying to convert me.

And yeah, that was over 30 years ago ... I think it was while I was changing planes in the Kansas City airport.

Well, yeah. If you approach them, they did. But if all you did was take their little flowers, thank them, and move on, they pretty much left you alone.

I do not know, but I am pretty sure he approached me ... at that point, I was a diehard atheist and would never have approached such a person.

Of course, once I got him to admit the wall was alive and conscious, it spiraled away from there. Not bad for a 16-year-old.

Ah yes, good times. The last time I saw Hari Krishnas was in O'Hare airport in 1990. And that trip was also the reason I was not only shocked and distressed by Chernobyl but also angered.

It was the same trip through O'Hare's hallways that I saw a demonstration with picket signs and all but the protesters were real Ivy League types. And the placards they were carrying said "Ted Kennedy has killed more people than nuclear power".

A Yuppy pro-nuke demonstration before there were Yuppies.

I'll wager that you will defend Islam.

    You would wager wrong:

However, this thread isn't about the stupidity that is Islam. It is about the stupidity that is Christianity. As I said, the only religion that traces its roots to that particular mythological god that I don't feel the need to go after is Judaism. That's because Judaism doesn't try to inject itself into my life.
