why do many religious people look down on those who don't believe or question it?

Since the existence of god has no more evidentiary proof than non-existence, aren't both sides equal here?
Why should one side look down on the other?

Ignorance is the only reason I can think of.

Insecurity. They have a logical and rational mind, yet are believing in the irrational. They know they don't have any evidence, some probably doubt their beliefs all the time, so any challenge to them (even other religious sects) they get defensive.

It's why they love to play the persecution card and whine about people being "anti-Christian" simply for questioning their beliefs. Because they don't have facts on their side and they have nothing to defend their faith with.

Why do so many nonreligious people look down on religious people?

Humans seem to have an evolutionary need to "other".

Because they support Trump and he said, he could stand on New York’s Fifth Avenue “and shoot somebody,” and still not lose voters.

    Ignorance, sure.

Fear, I think, is a close second if not related to ignorance.

It's no different than looking down on others due to race, politics, clothing/looks, sexuality.

Why is there being a god a default position? This makes no sense and its one of the completely irrational things religious people claim. "you don't have evidence god doesn't exist." That's completely irrational. By those standards, pink flying elephants (insert any ridiuclous things here) may exist, since there is no evidence they don't.

"No evidence" is just a meme that internet atheists repeat without really understanding how 'evidence' works in any real life context.

There are logical for a creator which are well-reasoned and don't require 'blind faith' in a specific myth. Just as there are awful atheist arguments against it (like this one).

No , there isn't, and you simply saying so doesn't make it so. THere is no logical reason why there needs to be a god, or that god exist. ABsolutely none. ANd ridiculous philisophical circle jerks does not provide logical argument, and its all just mental masturbation without actual evidence. Most of the arguments people try to make are just complete nonsense, like the most used one "look around you, how can there be no god," or how they selectively choose events and claim miracle, all while they ignore all the actual facts that suggest otherwise
