Perhaps you haters should read his entire sermon where he actually condemned what the men were doing.

In this article, which is heavily cherry-picked, he was simply explaining what the problem was, he then goes on to explain how it is against God and also tells the congregation steps that can be taken to fix this problem.

Fixes the men have to make.

Jeez, throw you libs a bone and you go chasing it don't you?

Try doing an ounce of research once in awhile.

It's hating to suggest that someone...anyone...even a Roman Catholic Archbishop, that advocates women's culpability in domestic abuse should lose their leadership position?

    [edit]

    Explain exactly what this means:

Women could also escape being physically abused by not asking their husbands for a divorce , Rodriguez said.

Does the Archbishop assume that domestic violence does not happen until a women asks to end a relationship?

Because what other explanation could Rodriguez' comment mean?

The guy never had a relationship, read the goddamn article, people in his own congregation are Furious. Fuck what he said about the men. Spain has seen 56 women die. And if some skirt wearing son of bitch says because a woman wants a separation or divorce that would justify domestic violence? Then that skirt wearing son of bitch can go get a real job where he's not advocating violence from the "so called" religion of peace
    Thanks from Friday13

It ended eventually with that woman being beat almost to death, before her husband was finally arrested.

And that was before Putin last year decriminalized domestic violence, also under pressure from the Orthodox Church, no doubt. Now, as long as you only hit yoyr wife or kid once a year, you just have to pay a damn fine. About same as a speeding ticket...

And, at the same time, the Church has meetings and such, discussing ways to help abuse victims

    Bloody amazing, really...
Leave to the boys who never walked the walk to tell you how to dance. Taking marital advice from some celibate turtle holed up in his spiritual shell, is like getting diabetic diet advice from a candymaker.

lol In fairness, Russian Orthodox priests, unlike their Catholic colleagues, are far from celibate.

On the contrary, not only are they free to get married, they are encouraged to have big families with lots of kids

They are to set an example to all believers in that regard

Protopriest Ioann (fancy religious spelling for Ivan lol) Osyak and his wife Nadezhda, in Krasnodar, in Southern Russia, even received a state award from Putin, for having 18 (!) kids, 8 boys and 10 girls

These are just some of their offspring, at least one grown son himself a cleric now (as are two of their sons in law; Church people do tend to intermarry within own circle...)

So, yeah, no celibacy over there. Doesn't make them any less ridiculous in many ways though...

There is an edit to the Wikipedia entry on this guy saying that he did not say these things at all. It claims that it all arose from a mistranslation from the Spanish by a German reporter.

I have looked but can't find any corroboration of that. Does anyone have further information?

    That's not what he said.

This biased article left out the part where he said it was wrong, he was simply explaining the problem.

    He was not condoning it.

You really shouldn't start frothing at the mouth at every religious hate article you read on the internet, it might not be true.

It is stated as a canard. Nothing mainstream, non partisan has ran this story. Only slanted media outlets.
