    Nonsense.

Jesus was a jew. The apostles were jews. The early christians were jews. Christianity started out as a jewish sect. If not for christianity, judaism would never have gained 'respect' since it has always been a religion apart from everyone else (which is what ian reminds everyone in this forum every chance he gets).

Oh, and don't get me started with gnosticism, which started out as a parasite in judaism, appropriating this and that idea and twisting them to an unrecognizable mess. When it became clear to the gnostics that christianity was becoming the more dominant religion, it conveniently attached itself to christianity.

No one really knows when or who exactly started gnosticism, and what exactly is its relationship to christianity and judaism. And yet, you have the temerity to arrogate for yourself the truth of jesus' message above everyone else.

Who exactly are the 'thieves', I wonder?
Paul spoke to gnosticism in Collossians - Heresy. Gnosticism was a philosophy that was blended with components of existing religions. Gnosis, greek for knowledge...the teaching was that through some secret knowledge you could achieve salvation on your own, Paul corrects this.

    Correct.

The thing is, I do not even have any issue what some idiot wants to believe. Heck, that idiot can even use this gnostic nonsense as a party trick to get laid -- as if gnosticism is something amazingly cool and smart.

But no. Some idiot needs to malign christianity, as if maligning christianity logically validates christian gnosticism. I have no intentions of suffering idiots in the public domain.

    Telling the truth helps everyone.

The Christians are as they stole most of their ideas from the Chrestians, whom I think were the Jewish and gentile coalition that began Chrestianity, that Christianity screwed up.

Now we deal with sin and death... but he also provided us with another option, another choice. Accept the free gift of salvation through His Son by admitting we are sinners and that He loves us enough to take our place, this is called propitiation.

You cannot understand darkness unless you have experienced light.
Free will choices and the desire to make them must have knowledge of good and evil.

That was denied A & E which means they did not have free will in the sense you are talking about.

All you are doing is spouting your indoctrinated dog-shit dogma. The same dogma that has you adoring a genocidal son murdering prick of a God.

Your own scriptures say that God created all concepts and that would include the concept of good and evil.

Who wrote the evil part of the tree of knowledge of good and evil if not God?

You are not like your predecessors. Good for you.

You do share many of their mental attitudes though.

    Exactly.

You should use your good judgement to a higher degree than one liners.

Gnosticism (from Ancient Greek: γνωστικός gnostikos, "having knowledge", from γνῶσις gnōsis, knowledge) is a modern name for a variety of ancient religious ideas and systems, originating in Jewish milieus in the first and second century AD. Based on their readings of the Torah and other Biblical writings,[specify] these systems believed that the material world is created by an emanation of the highest God, trapping the Divine spark within the human body. This Divine spark could be liberated by gnosis.

The Gnostic ideas and systems flourished in the Mediterranean world in the second century AD, in conjunction with and influenced by the early Christian movements and Middle Platonism. After the Second Century, a decline set in, but Gnosticism persisted throughout the centuries as an undercurrent of western culture, remanifesting with the Renaissance as Western esotericism, taking prominence with modern spirituality. In the Persian Empire, Gnosticism spread as far as China with Manicheism, while Mandaeism is still alive in Iraq.

A major question in scholarly research is the qualification of Gnosticism, based on the study of its texts, as either an interreligious phenomenon or as an independent religion.

So you see, gnosticism is not only a thief, it is a kleptomaniac and a hoarder.
