    Women leading the church

A few Sundays ago, I was in the old park walking The Little Bastard. There was a preacher in the gazebo with his little congregation. Less than a quarter mile away is the Methodist church, whose pastor is a woman. The preacher in the park, with his PA system, said "now, there's a church very near to this spot, that is lead by a woman. The Bible says this is wrong. You ladies can certainly help out at church, but God doesn't want you leading the church." He was basically flamebaiting the methodist church.
Where in the Bible does it state that a woman can't lead a church?

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 King James Version

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Hard for them to "lead" if they're silent.

Uh -huh, it was men that wrote the Bible and coincidental they decided you exclude anyone other than themselves from the seats of power.
I'm sure it was just a coincidence.

    1 Timothy 2:12

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

^^ In the 1980's, that scripture was used to say that women shouldn't lead in politics either. In some churches, even Democrats were convinced to vote against Mondale, because of the possibility that Ferraro would end up as president, and that would be "usurping authority over a man". Don't expect an argument from me on this. Just reporting what I heard.

Hey, I'm just the messenger. Knight asked the question. I knew one or two of the answers. There are probably other places. I heard one preacher call women who spoke in church "jezebels" ... because apparently Jezebel spoke in church.
    Thanks from Hollywood

In other words, "Shuteth thy mouth, bitch...you aren't as important as a man."
No wonder I could never get into this book.

A better question, in my opinion, is why any woman would ever want to accept a leadership position within a church whose holy scripture and doctrine forbids women from holding positions of leadership.

    I suppose it's a mystery?

The same reason I work in public education, one of the hardest fields to possibly work in if you're trans?

To make the world a better place for the next generation, even though the personal cost is astronomical?

To show that there's a better way?
