But is that because you regret the money you spent, or because all the care you provided wasn't really in your beloved cat's best interests?

I knew a lady with two cats, litter mates she had since they were born. Over 20 years old. Their blind, arthritic, emaciated bodies were kept alive via extreme vet care, and she wouldn't let them go (IMO) because her parents were alive when they were kittens, and she couldn't get over their sudden deaths a decade ago.

It was pitiable. Not "animal cruelty", but certainly, deeply unkind.

it is because no matter how much i spent to try and save him.. he still died. He was only 2 years old so we gave him a chance. If it had happened to an older cat i would have put him down after about 10k.

    You old softy!

    Lol.

I hesitate to add another beastie to my household mainly because I don't know whether I will have the dough for Bella and another animal, and Bella is already my responsibility.

This news story does not sit well with me, and yet, I can't articulate one ethical problem significant enough to serve as a basis for interfering in this woman's choices.

    Your thoughts?
    Ms. Madeline,

Somebody should tell her euthanasia is only about $150.

And a .22 caliber rim fire cartridge is about $0.10.

As fond as I am of our cat, I'd be hard-pressed to spend four figures on surgery for him.
    Thanks from Madeline
