When Jesus Christ Superstar came out in the 70s, I must have seen it twenty times. We bought the LP and my sister played it over and over and over again all day long in between the sound track to "Jungle Book". Well, I thought the cast and staging for that first movie could not be topped but apparently last night John Legend put on a remake that blew everyone away and I missed it. I just went over to You Tube and watched a couple songs, unbelievable stuff folks. One of the best things about this movie, play and score is that you do not have to be religious at all to enjoy it and get the message behind the story itself. Andrew Lloyd Weber created a song book for this play that captures something basic about Jesus that transcends gospel or chamber music, it is modern, it is hip, it is inspiring and it is fun. Check these two clips out, wow.
