So have a hamburger. It's not like you have to wait six hours afterward before you can eat dairy...

Are you saying that you cannot eat a cheeseburger. If so, now I know why all my buds are Reform.

Best dogs are at Costco...$1.50 for a giant beef dog, add your own goodies, and a drink...but they don't have the polish dogs, the best, any more.
Costco hot dogs are the best $1.50 meal in town.

Maybe the only one, in fact.

Best hamburgers are cooked at home from meat mixed with a bit of Worcestershire sauce.

Correct. Dairy and meat cannot be mixed ... Such s mixture is not kosher.

I respect your faith (and your adherence to it) but cheeseburgers would break me.

There are two forces at work in the US (and surely everywhere to some extent.)

One group says that American culture is imperfect but can be made more just and fair and ultimately better.

The other group says that American culture was perfect (or much better than it currently is) but is constantly being slowly ruined by the first group, and therefore the only way to improve it is to undo the changes that have occurred since some indeterminate time in the past. They disagree on when it all went downhill.

When I was a kid, I couldn't imagine cheese on a hamburger. As an adult I would occasionally eat a burger with cheese, usually not ... I didn't like it as much, and it just seemed a little off. Then, when I became religious, I discovered the kosher laws. Must have been inherent in my neshama.

As far as basic principles like the rule of law and the respect of individual rights, there is no difference….. All Western democracies share the same values. The way these principles are implemented may be different, but it leads to solutions which are often very similar. As a lawyer when I look at how an American court may deal with a case and how a continental one would, there are many differences but at the end the results are often very similar.

American culture will probably be at the forefront of change and quite different from what we even know now. Though perhaps how bad or good it is, is dependent on the things we do now.

What is Freedom without the rule of law and the respect of individual rights…… egg and chicken problem ? Anyway freedom is something rather vague without a legal structure. I would start from the respect of individuals, which leads to the necessity of having rules to implement it, then if it works you may have something like Freedom.
