Thought I'd start this one after we touched on it in a few other threads.

I say Jews are a stone age tribe that still exists - the oldest tribal group existing in the world.

I'd say Jews are a modern ethnicity, who's ethnic myths are based around a stone age tribe.

I'm not sure about "tribe" (yes, there were 12 tribes originally, but it seems kind of archaic to use the term today) or "stone age," but most Jews speak of being Jewish in a secular sense in addition to a religious sense. Rabbinical law says that you are a Jew if your mother is a Jew or you convert (like Sammy Davis, Jr. and Nell Carter). Therefore you CAN be a Jew by ethnicity, but not practice the religion and even be an atheist.

Oy. Now I am being told I am Fred Flintstone. Who knew he was Jewish.

I thought the aborigines were older?
I think Jew came from Judah which is a branch of Hebrew. So wouldn't Hebrews be older and they still exist? if you are a Jew then you are a Hebrew unless you just converted.
