This is not intended as an advocacy of a particular ideology just a laundry list of the bankrupt policies of the government sanctioned and at least partly government financed parties: the Democrats and the Republicans. Even though I am a lifelong libertarian as I suspect will be obvious I really don't care who you vote for so long as you don't vote for entrenched corruption AKA the Demicans and Republicrats. Even a vote for the CPUSA is preferable than a vote for these bozos. Let's start with the biggies:

National security. The last successful European invasion of what would become the US was in 1607. There has never been a serious attempt at invasion by Latin America, Africa, Asia, Australiasia/Oceania, Canada or Antartica. That accounts for the entire world. The USAF and USN are designed to defeat the rest of the world simultaeously and with adequate intelligence can do so. So other than intelligence gathering why should US Armed Forces be stationed overseas? Under the US system of war ground troops are scouting forces for artillery and airstrikes. There are problems with the current system most noticeably a lack of riverine artillery: it's hard to move and load 16" or greater artillery tubes using ground or air transport. The idea that the E-3 grunt or jarhead is a scout/tripwire for anything upto and including a 15 ton Fuel Air Explosive round does wonders for enemy morale. However the American system of war does work despite problems.

Foreign Policy. Given the above there is serious question as to what Foreign policy best suits us:

America Union: could work, has problems
Anglo-phone Union: again it could work, has problems

This list could be extended but the core problem is that there is no direct representation of the American people to international bodies that can mandate US expenditures and therefore taxes. The major parties have never heard of the idea of no taxation without representation or at least they act that way. This screws up American foreign and defense policy to a faretheewell. Despite 60 or more years of complaints this elementary political problem does not compute in DC. Somebody elected either independently or as part of the presidential ticket to represent the US at the UN or WTO is a very different matter than a political appointee confirmed by the senate. One says "I wasn't elected to endorse this kind of crap.", the other says "I must consult with my superiors." That first statement is a statement of authority that can be verified, the second statement is bureaucratic BS.

Economic policy. The Federal Reserve Board caused the depression of the 1930s. Milton Friedman won the Nobel Prize in Economics by showing that the proximate cause of the great depression was the Fed's mishandling of soaking up the inflationary excesses of the 1920s. Hayek won the Nobel prize by showing that the money growth of the 1920s would have caused some sort of deflationary multiyear period of 10+% unemployment (the old definition of a depression) no matter how the Fed dodged the bullet of hyperinflation or possibly total collapse due to hyperinflation. The major parties ignore this inconvenient fact. Talk about stimulus packages, public works and so forth ignores the fact that central banking is pro-cyclical i.e. ultimately the Fed will make a bad call that causes ups to go too far up and downturns to go further down than they need to. The sideefects of central banking are mostly ever increasing debt loads since serious avoidable failure is not permitted, which narrows the margin of error for Fed policy. The Dems and Reps are campaigning for less frequent but longer and more severe downturns, this policy is a lower threat to your lifestyle and a much greater threat to your survival than the rollarcoaster ride of no central bank. Show that your lifestyle is more important to you than your life vote early, vote often, vote R/D.

Environentalism/energy independence. There are various serious possible policies for getting away from OPEC:

Nukes. Not popular. Worse yet as state regulated monopolies power companies do not donate much to national campaigns.
Current turbines in the Gulf Stream. Generating Electricity by slowing and cooling the Gulf Stream will certainly restore the Greenland and Polar ice caps, not to mention European glaciers without causing pollution. It might set off an ice age if the global warming advocates are wrong but that is not our problem. Again power companies do not donate to national campaigns. They bribe state officials not national officials.
Solar power. A chance for silicon valley donors to the Dems to keep on doing so.
Opening up ANWAR and Yellowstone for energy generation. Rep donors get to keep on doing so.

DC knows better than say Southern Co. If you believe that I have an inactive FL Real Estate license, which I can reactivate, please contact me so I can get you into the always upward (in the longrun) FL Real Estate market. Thank you.

Healthcare. If the federal government knows so much about healthcare then how did the Walter Reed scandal happen? Let's see health insurance companies are regulated by the states so who gets the bribes (donations)? If big Pharma and Medequip started curing people instead of treating them their revenues and therefore donations would start going down. Politicians have better data on when this unfortunate event is likely to occur than I do I wonder if that point is closer than most of us think? Would the D/Rs put their campaign chests ahead of their constituents? Naw, couldn't be.

Illegal Aliens/Undocumented Workers. Turns out my wife is remodeling again and the contractor was claiming that the federal government was squeezing state and local governments with its border policy to make the Feds look better relative to city hall. Federal elected officials think they look less competent than the Podunk city council? I'll have to think about that one.

Hope you enjoyed this.
