    Can an Athiest become elected?

No matter what views they have good or bad, do you think that an atheist could become elected in any office, from mayor to president, if you was known that they didn't believe in god?

yes... religious beliefs should not be a requirement for holding an office

Well, I'm somewhat of an athiest. While it's not that I don't believe in God, I don't believe in church or any particular religion.

I mean think about it, their are so many different religions... could their possibly be just one right one?

Im the same way. I was brought up in a Nazarene church and I have nothing against the church or religion. ( I couldnt honestly tell you the difference in alot of religions) But I quit going to church because of one main reason. And that was all the gossiping. That was all that church did and lived for.

I hate anyone that decides they should have the right to tell people how to live, I'm not an anarchist and I realize government is a necessary evil, but when they start delegating minute little laws then it is rediculous.

atheists can be elected imo. i mean, i was raised a methodist and baptized at birth. i dont agree with baptizing at birth, because i didnt have the facilities to think about religion then. now, i believe religion is a wealthy institution of people who use fear and guilt to take our money. btw, i believe in a higher power, i do not pray, i do not care where i go when i die (prove that i go anywhere...), i just want to live a life by the correct and non-frivilous laws to serve my country, my family, and most of my community

plus, i could be elected to what ever the hell my purse strings stretched to..
