You sound so understanding and persuasive. No doubt you are a resounding success at giving to the world at large. Especially for all those with whom you otherwise disagree. Being broad minded does seem to be your forte.

I will take that as a compliment,Thank you , unfortunately the entire world does not speak English so that limits my voice.

Tubig, why did you not answer the question" How large does your universal truth encompass,? your family,? religion,? USA."?

This will help us communicate if we are on the same page.

Now I know this depends on whether you believe modern medicine will heal the sick or whether god will heal you.
Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation, which in 2012 consisted of over 4,500 sisters and is active in 133 countries.
If the church had this money why did they not give medicine to the sick ?
People in her care had curable illnesses but since they did not give medicine, they lay dying while they received barely enough food to survive.

Missionary's travel all over the world selling their religion thinking it is freedom but it is not, it is bondage to one group -why not just be a part of the world and accept everyone, instead of dividing off.
Deity based religions do this -they are exclusionary and judge all not part of,or even within . They also confuse the mind making you biased and childish in your emotions if someone insults your core convictions -Mature people do not get upset at name calling or mockery because they are comfortable with self and know you are revealing more about you than them.

I do give much to the world by trying to promote peace and tolerance without the confines of religion - my gift is absolutely free coming from me as an individual. Not giving with the reminder that this comes from so and so church.

I am not sure I would give my life ( die ) (perhaps this is not what you meant )for any cause except to save some one I deeply loved. I do not believe in an after life so my act would be truly selfless. Maybe to save millions but I hope I do not have to face this choice - I have children and want to see them grow up.

I have to say I am ready to put you on ignore because of your painfully small world view and very conservative views. I know you care not.

Mother Theresa was not a missionary to prove anything. She was doing it because she was called by God to help the poor and sick. If you don't believe anything about God then just observe a lady that listened to God and did what she did. She didn't care about recognition or money. If she did she would have been making speeches proclaiming her greatness. Her life is a great example of a person that cares about others more then herself. I personally know two missionaries that gave up their jobs as school teachers in the states to help abused single mothers in Bolivia at a care center there. They are helping restore shattered lives. They are not there to sell a church or a religion, they are just helping. I think you have a narrow view of missionaries try looking at the good they do . Your hate for religion is closing your mind to the good that religious people do. In fact all the missionaries in the world are great evidence that there is really a God. If you put me on ignore it proves to me that you can't handle the truth I proclaim.

IMO "universal truth" can be different things dependent on the context. I doubt that any "truth" is so universal that no person on earth would disagree with it, so it must mean something less than world unanimity.
