    But that's another story.

Democrats had a chance to show they were trustworthy. They failed to do so. And now the fragile law is even more fragile because Democrats failed to be responsive to voter anxieties and gave up more than 80 Congressional seats to Republicans -- raising Republican numbers to levels not seen since the 1930's.

I understand that you disagree with me.

However, I maintain that Republicans are not to blame for Democrats failing to keep faith with voters -- failing to show voters that Democrats are significantly better than Republicans currently are.

Agree to disagree, and I will relent a bit, Dems aren't without some culpability. I just know I didn't suffer with Obamacare.
    Thanks from Amelia and Madeline

I've said from the beginning that this was just a bailout of the insurance companies and today I saw a sound bite of a Marco Rubio speech where he said the exact same thing.

Strange bedfellows. I think a public option and a lowering of the age in which one can buy into Medicare would have helped immensely. The fact is the way health insurance works is dependent on the markets continually going up and there's no way to guarantee that. Private health insurance is a dinosaur that simply doesn't work in today's economy.

I liked my insurance, so I kept it. Of course, I had insurance that actually covered medical treatment to begin with -- not one of those rip-off policies that was outlawed.

The insurance companies didn't need a bailout, but we do need the public option. Is your strange bedfellow offering that?

Nobody is. They're afraid that doing so would derail their campaigns.

That said, what the Republicans are offering is repeal and return to the failed status quo.

Call them greedy or whatever you want, but it matters, especially when looking for support.
Also I think the lack of price controls(and I don't have that solution) also makes it a negative.

I would hate to see it go. It's a first step. But the lack of Democrats offering proposals to change and the persistent call by Republicans to just get rid of it is frustrating and tells me we won't see real change anytime soon.
Actually, over the past 5 years--apparently in preparation for and because of--HEALTH CARE costs have risen the smallest percentages in a couple of decades (can't remember the exact time line).

The reason why it sucked and why the Republican proposals for replacing it will also suck is simple. It's just a tweak of the old system. The old screwy third party payment system where Party B pays Party C to pay the bills for Party A. Change will have to be more radical. Quit tinkering around the edges. The Singapore system. It works and we should do it.

Single payer is what we should do, but I know of no one who could get that through Congress without a landslide of historic proportions for the Democrats in the next two election cycles.

One person is supporting something other than the slow or quick strangulation of the middle class and economically disenfranchised.

    One person.

One person is supporting universal healthcare.

    One person.

Hillary is constrained by the present landscape. Sanders is running to bring about a new landscape, and if he manages to upset Hillary he can do that.
    Thanks from Madeline
