That's because there were two schools of thought. One was "homosexuality is compatible with military service". And the other was "gays should have a right to serve in the military". There isn't really any middle ground on the two and any policy that tries to compromise between them is bound to be unworkable.

This was disingenuous on a few levels. The phony concern was one. And the weaselly way it was presented. Republicans didn't imply Obama was a drug dealer, the Clinton campaign did. And they weren't acting out of the kindness of their hearts.
And it follows the Clinton 2008 pattern of having surrogates say something outrageous with the campaign then disavowing (wink) afterwards. As if that unrings the bell.
Republicans ended up doing much worse.....claiming Obama wasn't an American citizen.
Trump jumped on that bandwagon, being the Big Birther as it were, and that seriously helped him in his appeal to the Republican base.

There was a fringe that did that. This came from the Clinton campaign.

But too many here seem confused as to whether Hillary is a racist.

She is, always has been, and will continue to be.

But they are different. Hillary hides hers. She says nice things about Muhammed Ali. She has her photo taken with Al Sharpton.

Personally, I prefer my hate full on and without any bullshit.

Most POC I know feel the same. If you hate me, say so to my face.

    Your thoughts?
Blaming Hillary for her husband's policies and then labeling her a racist for his policies......is a stretch and unfounded.

    What's a POC?

Really? You think they did more damage than Reagan? It was Reagan who railed against Welfare Queens and attacked entitlement programs. Bill Clinton was "triangulating" himself, shoehorning Democrats into a Republican agenda because that's where the country was and it was the only way for a Democrat to get elected president and keep the job. Is there anything Clinton did that Reagan didn't WANT to do but wasn't in office long enough to accomplish?

We're still living in a political world that is the result of the sea change accomplished by Reagan. Clinton just floated his boat on the waves of his moment.

Yeah, keep telling yourself it was a fringe......when no Republican leader had the decency to correct misinformed constituents about Obama's citizenship.

61% of Trump's supporters think Obama was not born in the United States to only 21% who accept that he was.

66% of Trump's supporters believe that Obama is a Muslim to just 12% that grant he's a Christian.

Racism is the underbelly of the birther conspiracy.

That claim has been debunked. Clinton certainly didn't file court challenges or persist in that delusion for YEARS after it was debunked.

Debunked? Billy Shaheen was the New Hampshire co-chair. And I was unaware that legal action was required for something to be racist.

    So which is it?

And I also notice that you almost immediately shifted ground from "racist" to "anti-poor." Like in your third post.
