    Global Warming Movie Stars

Why would a true believer in inevitable global warming driven sea level rise buy a waterfront mansion? Why not just rent until it goes literally underwater and leave the deed with some "denier" sucker? Matt Damon is apparently not that smart.

    And he's not alone.
Streisand has a Malibu beach house, and while Leonardo DiCaprio has sold his Malibu beach house (smart, huh?) he still owns a private island in Belize that he plans on turning into an "eco resort".
Any number of additional examples of this paradox can be found, almost as if the true believers don't really think there's any real risk of inundation by the rising seas after all. Weird, huh?

The provenance alone is often worth millions.

If you have that kind of money, a lost house is no big deal.

Well, they have gobs of money, so, the actual cost of their mansions is probably not that big of a concern for them.

Either way, that is THEIR decision.

What gets me, is that, even as the arrogant aholes preach AT common people, about the need for "all of us to make sacrifices," they then hop on lear jets, and fly all over the world, to one of their many vacation homes, often air conditioned, all year long, to some degree...

Al Gore did the same thing.

He predicted all the ice would be gone in seven years and then went and bought a seaside mansion on the coast of Florida I believe.

I am sure he was laughing at all the suckers that paid money to him to listen to his dire warnings.

Those tools bought him a fancy new house.

TV evangelists have nothing on the global warming crowd, it is like a cult.

It is becoming dangerously cult like in their desire to push their beliefs by force onto others. Even to scrutinize the science or acknowledge and discuss the historical data about the evolution of Earth and its climate invokes angry responses from those true believers.

Al Gore's seaside mansion is in California, not Florida:

In a move that critics may cite as his own inconvenient truth, former Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, have added a house in secluded Montecito, Calif., to their real estate holdings.

The couple spent $8,875,000 on a gated ocean-view villa on 1 1/2 acres with a swimming pool, spa and fountains, according to real estate sources familiar with the deal. The Italian-style house has high ceilings with beams in the public rooms, a family room, a wine cellar, terraces, six fireplaces, five bedrooms and nine bathrooms in more than 6,500 square feet of living space.

LeRoy: FYI, this residence is about 150 feet above sea level. It has an ocean VIEW. It is at no risk from rising sea levels. NO ONE expects sea levels to rise more than 150 feet before the end of this century. Before the end of NEXT century is a different matter....

You are perfectly FREE to 'scrutinize' the science. I recommend Science, Nature, Scientific American, New Scientist, American Scientist as good sources of information. I do NOT recommend getting your science 'info' from publications such as The Varmint Hunters' Digest.

If all the ice covering Antarctica, Greenland, and in mountain glaciers around the world were to melt, sea level would rise about 70 meters (230 feet). The ocean would cover all the coastal cities. And land area would shrink significantly. But many cities, such as Denver, would survive.
