    Now that's interesting.

Section 4 of the 25th amendment doesn't provide for removal of a President from office, but for the Vice President to become Acting President in the event of the President being deemed unfit. It would be up to the VP and the cabinet to make a determination as to the fitness of the President to serve, and then Congress would be required to weigh in on their decision.

This is not an action that could be instigated by congressional Democrats. Neither could the Democrats in Congress successfully bring impeachment proceedings against the President, since they represent a minority in both houses of Congress.

Only the Republicans can successfully remove Donald Trump from the office of the presidency between now and 2020. I suspect that they will refrain from doing so, for as long as they feel that they can weather the embarrassment of having a Reality TV clown as both the leader of their party and of the free world.
Thanks from Pragmatist, the watchman and Madeline

There is no such examination required of the President.

Woodrow Wilson had a stroke and Reagan's increasing dementia.

Wilson's incapacitation was hidden and no one from Reagan's staff wanted to end his Presidency that way.

So, we would have a President and an Acting President, at the same time?

If that was the only moving force, the Congress would react with its usual stubbornness, or start impeachment proceedings.
No, I mean he had a complete physical in order to be allowed to serve. Every President elect has to go through it.

That's just it, right now it is "we don't like your choices, so we're attacking you as crazy" as the headline. It will never happen.

Just because a private physician declares you "fit" doesn't make it so! As for rumpettes mental condition it is poor. And like richard nixon he is a liar extraordinaire while feeding the lowest common denominator of humans for support.
    Thanks from Madeline

Yes, but the President would be stripped of all of the powers associated with the office.

PBS has a new tv series on Churchill, and the cover up of his extreme poor health in the last days of his premiership. I imagine that's happened in most countries, somewhere in their history.

Can't recall the name of the series offhand, sorry.
