    BLM is the nations largest land holder, the shear amount of land they own is insane.

    Presidents usually grab land on their way out the door, similar to how they do massive pardons on the last day, as a way to solidify their legacy.

    Clinton grabbed I forget how much but it was a huge amount.

    Good news! Zinke does NOT want to reduce national land protections in every state.

    He's ensuring that no land protections are rolled back in his home state of Montana. The 590 square monument where rocky bluffs meet the Missouri River? It's being eyed by resource development concerns - but it's safe on Zinke's watch. He's even considering protecting NEW lands in Montana.

    But protected lands in other states? Fuck 'em.

    It just means I won't have to pay to get a stupid permit to go collect firewood there anymore.
