Yes. He is more interested in his own personal enrichment than with the welfare of others - the exact opposite of what a president should be.
    Thanks from HayJenn

We have two parties in this nation with different ideas.
The difference is that we used to have debates over ideas, and the parties and elections were about competing ideas. Now, they are not. It is not about agreeing on the ideas, but rather agreeing that the ideas compete in the marketplace of ideas as expressed (among other ways) in our elections, and the winners get to carry out their agenda until the next election. That is not happening anymore. The last time we had such a presidential election was 2008, maybe even 1992. And with someone like Trump around, it may never happen again unless we seize the reins and get rid of him by election day 2020 (preferably before).

There were 18 funding gaps, but only 7 resulted in government workers being furloughed.

You know political history as well as I do, it used to be far more divisive than it is today.

In fact many people say its hard to distinguish the parties apart anymore.

I think you have your rose colored glasses on here.

Take Afghanistan for instance, other than paying lip service to disagreement all the presidents do the same thing, there is no real debate about it.

Not since the Civil War, or with respect to foreign powers.

And yet people tend to vote the same way. Statistics lie all the time; you should know that. People say things, yet their behaviors do not change. You can get 80% of the people saying they are tired of sex scandals, for example, but if news viewership on those topics go through the roof, somebody is not telling the truth, whether they realize it or not.

I am sure you remember the great division over the New Deal.

    Or the division over isolation.

The division over the Vietnam War and Civil Rights was about as strong as it can get.

Today the worse we get are some football players kneeling, its certainly not dividing the nation. People see it on the news, make their little comment and forget about.

As you said, people don't really change anymore so thinking Russia is going to be able to change that is simply silly.

I've also yet to see what their motivation would be to try and divide the nation.

Are they going to invade Europe hoping we won't get involved or something?

Its just simply a ridiculous claim.
