    My outside 2 cents.

Not my issue, not my fallen, not my uniform et. But just my “outside” 2 cents.

Ive delivered next of kin notifications. Only a couple were of young people. But it’s not something that’s enjoyable.

Mocking or criticizing the way someone makes a call to a grieving family? That’s terrible.

Trumps done 10,000 stupid, disgusting things, and hell do 5 more before nightfall. There’s no shortage of things to criticize him for.

Criticising this is gross. It’s not going to convince anyone of anything except a dislike of the person doing it.

Even if people with a political opposition to him disagree that jumping on this is wrong. Trust me that it’s counterproductive.

    Good post.

Lots will ignore it, of course.

    Your point is appreciated.

But I think this forgets how he increased the trauma of the bereaved by not even knowing the name of her husband, in addition to the awkward thing he said. Better he not call at all. He'd do less damage. The family was already notified. Trump didn't need to do this for anyone but himself, because he thought it would put him on a higher level than his predecessors.

I'll stop now though. I agree it's not convincing anyone of anything.

    Moving to the text topic.

I think I could shorten my point to.

“Snidely criticise someone for their honest attempt at handling a sensitive, no-win situation? That’s something a piece of shit like Donald Trump would do”

I think that what it's really all about, is that the man is always insensitive and a bit sociopathic. You'd think that by now he might have picked a few notes on how to deal with people. I used to work in the funeral business myself, so I know grieving families, and when the toad comes to the funeral, he shouldn't speak.

    Channeling Borowitz? LOL

I'm on both sides. I'm not going to pile on him, but I don't expect Trump to do anything different in any of the multiple situations. He's an ass.

It's like expecting a guy who lived in the swamps all his life to act like a New Yorker because he is visiting New York.

There is not a single person here that would want to take Trump"s place with this phone call. Screw y'all for criticizing him for giving our governments sympathies the best way he could feel and relate.

FYI the fucking moron trump at the adult day center WH press briefing started this drama when rump criticized the previous CinCs for not being as great as he says he is at calling the relatives of dead soldiers.

I'm going to agree in principle but also point out that being president means there are some tasks that, no matter how you attempt them, someone is going to take serious issue. Take being borne, for instance, in Hawaii, for instance. Being president is no-win.

And in that case his supporters would call it "hitting back ten times harder" in order to justify it.

Trump brought this up when he was asked about the deaths of the four soldiers not having been addressed. He immediately leapt into bragging about he called the families and other presidents didn't always do that, and that's what opened the door. He also brought Gen. Kelly and the death of his own son into it. These were unforced errors.

His lack of tact is inexcusable at this point. His propensity for making himself and his over-inflated, undernourished ego the topic of every conversation has gotten to the point where people are just fed the fuck up with it.
