I understand you there.... Yet this administration has made a mockery of our flag and everything it stands for.

He embraced the flag. He flew it proudly at his marches and speeches. He knew his cause was a tough enough one to sell to some people. He didn't engage in needlessly divisive and alienating and ultimately futile tactics that drove away people who might otherwise be sympathetic.
MLK also said riots are the voices of the unheard.

And I guess you missed this picture of MLK

This was taken after protesters were arrested when trying to get blacks to register to vote in Selma.

    Was the national anthem playing?

What part that it's not about the flag or the anthem don't you get?

But you can take it up with MLK's daughter if you like.

Bernice King, the chief executive of the King Center and the daughter of the civil rights leader, had tweeted a similar photo earlier Saturday, seemingly comparing her father’s actions to those of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who began kneeling during the national anthem last season to bring attention to police brutality and racial injustice.

“The real shame and disrespect,” Bernice King wrote Saturday, “is that, decades after the 1st photo, racism STILL kills people & corrupts system.”

In the post, she tagged Trump and #TakeAKnee, a burgeoning social-media campaign that encouraged NFL players the following day to kneel during the national anthem to show solidarity with those protesting racial injustice and/or in defense of the First Amendment.
