Wherein Republicans Believe Their Own Propaganda

The Republicans invited insurance companies to testify about the number of new enrollees who have not paid their premiums. It seems they believed a flawed study done by House Republicans that stated that only 67% had paid their premium. But they stupidly included those who hadn't even been billed yet. The reality is that about 80% have paid. And there is the problem of duplicate enrollments because of the website problems. So some of those that are listed as not having paid are actually just a duplicate enrollee. So, it's even higher than 80%. but the insurance companies won't know for sure for a couple of months.

Anyway, this author makes an interesting observation that I've been pointing out to righties for some time.

But yesterday, a House subcommittee invited insurance company executives to testify and, according to the Hill, Republicans on the panel were “visibly exasperated, as insurers failed to confirm certain claims about ObamaCare, such as the committee's allegation that one-third of federal exchange enrollees have not paid their first premium.”We don’t have to rely on reporter interpretations (here’s another one). It made no sense to hold the hearing unless Republicans were (foolishly) confident that the testimony would support their talking point, instead of undermining it.

The only plausible explanation is that closed feedback loop. Either members of the committee managed not to be aware of the criticisms of their survey, or they mistakenly wrote off the criticism as partisan backbiting.

Being trapped in a bubble doesn’t matter much when it concerns only a single House subcommittee hearing; it matters quite a bit when it extends to governing capacity. A party incapable of seeing outside of its own propaganda bubble is unlikely to be able to govern competently.

I noticed that Romney had this problem during the election. He honestly believed, because the right wing news media told him so, that it took Obama days or weeks to call the attack in Benghazi a terrorist attack. And then on election night he didn't have a concession speech written because the right wing media told him all the polls were wrong and Obama was going to lose. And Fox News was totally taken by surprise when Obama won. You righties really have a problem with reality because you're so enclosed in your own news and current events bubble. As the author of this article points out, it makes you incapable of constructive oversight. I see it here on this board all the time.

We see that bubble mentality here every day.

According to the GOP/TP, because the WH messaging included political influences, a great lie was told the public about what happened at Benghazi in order for Obama to win reelection. The GOP/TP invested their own brand of politicized talking points heavily in that narrative and continue to do so. They've even begun to raise political campaign contributions on the bodies of the 4 dead Americans.

How is 80% a good number? How many businesses are successful when 1 in 5 customers don't pay?
And the people who do pay are screwed over by increased premiums. Thanks Obama!

It's higher than that because of the double enrollments and the fact that not all the enrollees have been billed. And the insurance companies said they won't have complete figures for a couple of months.

Lets see. Which were the bigger fibs?

    1. The Benghazi attacks were a response to a video or If we don't invade Iraq, the smoking gun might be mushroom clouds sprouting over American cities?

    2. The IRS targeted conservative 501(c)4 or There were no warnings of a terrorist attack before 9/11? (Note: this was the Bush administration position from 9/11 until May 2002 when the Minneapolis FBI publicized that their efforts to identify Z. Moussaoui were blocked by FBI HQ)

    3. FastnFurious was an effort to track gun sales and smuggling across the border or 9/11 happened during the Clinton administration (Mary Matalin; 12-2009: GOP strategist Matalin: Bush 'inherited' 9/11 attacks from Clinton | 911Truth.org)

The GOP/TP is condemning what the GOP/TP does every day.

Is that kind of like how the democrats are ignoring the polls now and refusing to acknowledge that they are about to get smoked in the mid-term elections?

    lol

    The irony is laughable.

The sad thing is that as bad as Fox is.. they often at least have half the facts right... but...Fox is a "Gateway" to some of the more absurd/paranoid mindcontrol zones on AM radio and the Internet. There's hardcore Teabags who...if they had a lobotomy...would be pretty much unchanged.

What the hell happened? It's a sort of zombie takeover of the Goppers. I didn't think much of the OLD GOP...but some of this shit now is amazing. It seems " Truth + Facts" just don't EXIST.... You grab a LIE that fits your Neurosis and you throw tantrums, clinging stubbornly to it. That's a mental health problem...not a political debate. The vetern...real Conservatives......find it awkward to be in the same parade with a bunch of clowns who either puke or take off their pants.

I see people...who have a 8th grade sense of how Govt works... trying to pose as EXPERTS on the Constitution. Maybe they once read the comic book version? Others weigh in on whatever aspact of SCIENCE...and FLAUNT how they never learned the basic DEFINITION of Science. Then... there's the finger puppets who cut and paste GARBAGE from som nutcase sire...then ...not content...distort the distorted propaganda??? WTF? If you want to debate ME.....convincing me you are dumber than the family dog....is not a good opening.

The Bubble Mentality...is bad.. but what's amazing is how a few ain't content to jump in the septic tant...they want to drink it dry. I see loons who actually think with some Camo costumes and AR 15's they...and their bowling team... can overthrow the US Govt. My advice.......Google A-10 Warthog. It's an armored plane build around a giant gatling gun that can with a burst turn a T-72 into smokin' scrap. It also can fire rockets, missles and drop a few cluster bombs...... and if you are ever SOBER... you'd maybe see how that's a PROBLEM if you make war on Uncle Sam. Uncle Sam has a few HUNDRED of those flying monsters. The thing to ponder.... Uncle Sam likely does not even NEED them.

It's also a bit odd when the Worship the Rich...and the Libertarian...back to 1860 wings try to merge. It's odd when the Shoot to Kill gun nuts..and "Right to Life" gangs..try to merge. The Banker/CEO/Wall St guys......don't tend to mingle with Redneck Aryan Bikers.... illiterate swamp dwelles and the Fundamentalist neo-Puritans of the prairees. The GOP has become a collection of cults ...with the notion that given enough mass marketing and propaganda...you can stampede them ALL of the same cliff on election day.

I never denied the Democrats are going to lose some seats. But I wouldn't describe it as being "smoked".

The reason Romney believed that is because it took weeks for Obama to call the Benghazi attacks a terrorist attack. I guess he didn't want to contradict the State Department's bald faced lie.
