Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., agreed Wednesday to allow Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., to hold a hearing on the case, as she requested.

"I strongly believe that the sentences in this case are too extreme, given the criminal nature of the defendant and his possession of large quantities of drugs," Feinstein said in a statement. "These men were given sentences that some individuals who are convicted of murder wouldn't receive."

In a statement issued Wednesday afternoon, Rep. John Culberson, a Texas Democrat, said Ramos and Compean "may not have followed proper procedure following the shooting, which at most should have resulted in their suspension from the force, but not criminal procedure."
    I totally agree with that.

What does Bush have to do with that case? Did he tell them to shoot unarmed men? Really, you can't blame the man for everrything. :hissy:

Actually, it's not really me who is blaming Bush for this...a lot of Republican congressman are on his case for not issuing a pardon. They are a little peeved and are really peeved at Homeland Security for lying about the investigation's findings.

WorldNetDaily: Border agents sent to prison

So, do you want them pardoned (maybe I misunderstood you)?

I think they should have been fired, not sentenced to 11 years in prison. I don't think the jackass should have been given immunity either. Now he's suing the U.S. for his mistreatment. WTF? He was smuggling drugs into our country. He was an illegal committing and illegal act, too bad he got shot, he should find a new line of work.

Bush could put a stop to this in a tic tock. Johnny "Nifong Sutton" was part of the Bush/Cheney transition team in 2000. I believe that Bush knows more about it than we might want to believe he does. These two BP agents aren't the first ones this has happemd to. One in Ok was tried, much like these two were, he went to prison, lost his family & his house. His lawyer got a new trial for him, took the jury one hour to find him not guilty. Read up on a little plastic card the BP has to carry now, it's really disgusting. i hope Feinstein Or somebody, anybody, gets to the ebottom of this. i understand Sheila Jackson Lee is looking into holding hearings as well.

I absolutely want them pardoned. The evidence does not suggest they did anything to warrant the jail time they received. They were not, as had initially been disclosed, "out to kill Mexicans" that day.

Considering the fact that they are both Hispanic, that wasn't going to fly anyway.
