Dawn Lyn -- Dodie from My Three Sons -- is the sister of Leif Garrett.
Anders Celsius' temperature scale had 100 for when water freezes and 0 for when it boils.
The first patented artificial heart came not from physician Robert Jarvik, but from a comedian/actor by the name of Paul Winchell, in 1963.
Winchell was well known as an actor and ventriloquist in the 50s and 60s with ventriloquist characters Jerry Mahony and Knucklehead Smith. He appeared on TV shows such as The Donna Reed Show, The Dick Van Dyke show, and the Beverly Hillbillies. He was also known as the original voice of cartoon characters Tigger, and Dick Dastardly.
Winchell's other patents included a disposable razor, a flameless cigarette lighter, illuminated ballpoint pen, retractable fountain pen, an "invisible" garter belt, an inverted novelty mask, battery-operated heated gloves, a portable blood plasma defroster, a sectional garment for hypothermia, and a piezo-electric diaphragm.

I learned the best way to stop your lunches being stolen from the office is to bring in food with a super hot sauce on them
