Scoundrels and Scalawags: PH Corruption/Scandal Watch

Because hey, what could go wrong in a thread devoted to listing the bad guys of public service? We don't really need ancient history here, but if you have to dig that deep, everything is in play.

Edit: Let's keep it USA only here... we don't want one thread to break the internet.

    heh heh heh

    Up first, a current event:

Rep. Michael Grimm to resign after admitting to tax evasion | Fox News

U.S. Rep. Michael Grimm plans to resign, Fox News confirmed Monday, one week after the Staten Island congressman admitted to federal tax evasion.

Grimm, who was re-elected to a third term representing New York's 13th district in November, is expected to resign sometime this week.

Grimm, a Republican, pleaded guilty on Dec. 23 in federal court in Brooklyn to one count of aiding in the filing of a tax return. He had been accused of hiding more than $1 million in sales and wages while running a Manhattan health-food restaurant.

Does it have to be U.S. only or can we put those from countries like Canada, France, Russia and other industrial nations?

Isn't this the scumbag who was caught on video threatening to throw the reporter over the balcony?

He was "dead man walking" as soon as I saw that.

Hard to legislate from inside a jail cell.

Yeah, hard to believe the guy who threatened to throw a reporter over a balcony might have a history of law breaking. Who knows, that move might have even spurred someone to look into his history a little more closely.

    Texas Admissions Scandal

It seem Mr. Joe Straus has been trying to get a whistle blower ( Mr. Hall ) removed from his appointed job:

" But rather than addressing the problems that Mr. Hall exposed, Mr. Straus has tried to cover them up by going after the messenger. Not only did the speaker convene a special panel to consider impeaching Mr. Hall (it censured him instead), he also tried to strong-arm Mr. Perry. According to Kathy Walt, Mr. Perry’s chief of staff, Mr. Straus’s top aide told her that “if the governor will get Hall to resign, this will all go away.” Mr. Straus’s office has denied the account, which was reported last week in the Austin American-Statesman. But the story has been confirmed by Mr. Hall, who said Ms. Walt told him about the Straus offer, and by Mr. Perry. “I stand by Kathy Walt’s recollection,” Mr. Perry told the paper. “I trust her, I believe her, and I think her recollection of what happened is spot-on.” "

It make me wonder why the Republican House Speaker for Texas want to cover up this scandal?

    Side Question:

Is Texas Part of the U.S. or should we consider it a for Foreign Nation?

    ( Joking or am I ? )
