Report: More than half of immigrants on welfare

More than half of the nation's immigrants receive some kind of government welfare, a figure that's far higher than the native-born population, according to a report to be released Wednesday.

About 51% of immigrant-led households receive at least one kind of welfare benefit, including Medicaid, food stamps, school lunches and housing assistance, compared to 30% for native-led households, according to the report from the Center for Immigration Studies, a group that advocates for lower levels of immigration.

Those numbers increase for households with children, with 76% of immigrant-led households receiving welfare, compared to 52% for the native-born.

    From your link:
Linda Chavez agrees with Camarota that the country's welfare system is too large and too costly. But Chavez, a self-professed conservative who worked in President Reagan's administration, said it's irresponsible to say immigrants are taking advantage of the country's welfare system any more than native-born Americans.

Chavez said today's immigrants, like all other immigrant waves in the country's history, start off poorer and have lower levels of education, making it unfair to compare their welfare use to the long-established native-born population. She said immigrants have larger households, making it more likely that one person in that household will receive some kind of welfare benefit. And she said many benefits counted in the study are going to U.S.-born children of immigrants, skewing the findings even more.
Poor people use the welfare system more than those who are better off. Immigrants tend to be poorer.

So if we stopped allowing immigration (both legal and illegal) everyone would be more wealthy because immigration causes poverty. Ipso facto. Right?

And people on welfare vote for the welfare party. This is the democrats plan. They turned blacks into welfare slaves and now they get 95% of the black vote. They want to do the same with hispanics.

Obama doesn't want skilled intelligent immigrants. He wants welfare trash.

but we have a POTUS, that is not enforcing the immigration laws. So, that point is moot.

He IS enforcing immigration laws. He's given a limited budget and is spending it in ways that make sense to him. Even if he WANTED to deport ever illegal alien, he hasn't got NEARLY the budget to get that done. As the executive, he can prioritize enforcement--that's his job. You just don't like the choices he's making.

In any case, choosing not to deport someone doesn't make them eligible for food stamps or TANF or any other benefit.

He has been given 3,600,000,000 in 2014 to enforce immigration laws. he used only 1,600,000,000. So Money is not the issue.

He is not enforcing immigration laws. He tried to push through an executive order subverting immigration laws.

A federal appeals court refused Tuesday to allow President Obama's program to protect millions of undocumented immigrants from deportation from going into effect.

The decision by a three-judge panel of the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans adds another delay for the undocumented immigrants who could have been protected under the president's order. A federal judge blocked Obama's plan in February, hours before many of them were to start applying for the new program.

Obama announced in 2012 that he would allow undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children to register with the federal government in exchange for two-year protections from deportation. In November, he said Congress had yet to fix the nation's broken immigration system, so he would move to protect even more undocumented immigrants.

Under his new program, more undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children would qualify for the deportation protections, as well as older undocumented immigrants who had U.S. citizen children.

You know, it would be easy for Congress to stop him. All they have to do is pass a law that deals with current immigration problems. EVERYONE agrees that current laws aren't working.
    Thanks from Panzareta
