Should The Government Raise The Minimum Wage?

It is important for the minimum wage to be increased because parents that do not have degrees can not afford to support their families without government help because they simply do not make enough money. People that have not gotten degrees because they could not afford them can not get a job that pays over minimum wage, most of the time. Is it fair?

While I agree that the minimum wage should be raised, having a degree isn't necessary to achieve financial success. Many people in manufacturing and the skilled trades make excellent incomes without a degree.

and yet it's a pity that some go to school for more than four years and never seem to learn a fucking thing...

You guys are so obsessed with this idea that you don't care what its actual effects will be. It sounds so great to you that it doesn't matter what happens after.

No. Minimum wage earners are often not parents.

It needs to be raised but ultimately this isn't the solution to our problem.

We have to bring our manufacturing sector back to this country so Americans can find good-paying jobs. That's all there is to it.

Back when I was a young man there was industry in every town. People could find good-paying work right out of high school. Now it's hard to find a town that has anything but Wal Marts and industry that hasn't closed down and moved off-shore.

That's the real problem. Raising the minimum wage is like putting a band aid on a severed arm.
