    Russia answers Trump

Russia to U.S., Trump: Sort out your own pre-election hacking scandal
Russia told the United States on Thursday to get to the bottom of a hacking scandal involving Democratic Party emails itself and rejected what Donald Trump said was a sarcastic suggestion that Moscow should dig up Hillary Clinton's "missing" emails.

Trump, the Republican Party's presidential candidate, angered Democrats on Wednesday by inviting Russia to unearth tens of thousands of emails from rival Clinton's tenure as U.S. secretary of state.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

President Vladimir Putin has tried to avoid giving the impression of favoring any U.S. candidate, while hailing the populist Trump as being "very talented." Russian state TV coverage has tended to tilt towards Trump over Clinton.
    BONUS

Putin is giving aid and comfort to Trump. Today we found out why.
Donald Trump said Wednesday that, if he is elected president, he would consider recognizing Crimea as Russian territory and lifting the sanctions against Russia.

At a wide-ranging news conference, Trump said he “would be looking into that” when asked about his stance on Crimea and Russia. The Crimean Peninsula has been part of Ukraine for decades, but Russian President Vladimir Putin annexed the territory in March 2014 after a popular revolt toppled Kiev's pro-Russian government.

This is jaw dropping. The annexation of Crimea violated international law and sparked a prolonged and bloody conflict in the Ukraine. It was an unacceptable act of aggression that has no place in a post-WWII world. But here Trump is, ready to “look into” giving it his official stamp of approval.

We knew Putin wanted Trump to win. Now we know why. Trump will not only turn a blind eye towards Russian aggression in Eastern Europe. He will excuse, allow, and enable it.

The stakes of this election are unfathomable. Trump must be stopped at all costs.

Update: Timaeus makes a great point. Trump has been bleating for months that he’s interested in reducing American support to NATO. What he said today is simply a more explicit version of what he’s been saying along. Trump is just fine letting our European allies fend for themselves.

And we care about Crimea why?

Are you really willing to risk a war over that piece of dirt?

Democrats need to quit thinking we are the worlds policeman and stay out of everyone's crap.

    Buncha warmongers they are.

That's "brutally occupied" Crimeans singing Russian anthem

I think we all should respect the will of two million Crimeans, 90% of whom voted, whole families, to get out of Ukraine and join Russia

They voted TWICE, in fact, first Crimean Referendum was in January of 1991

Crimeans back then overwhelmingly voted to break off from Ukraine and be a separate Soviet Socialist Republic within USSR. But then the whole Union fell apart later that year, and this was never implemented.

    Until 2014.

I don't like Putin, same as you.

But Crimeans, beautiful people living on a beautiful Peninsula steeped in Russian history

    have made their choice.

Whether you or I or Hillary may like it or not, they have chosen. To come home. Period.

Our governments can continue to deny reality together with those in Kiev. But it won't change.

Crimea is part of Russia now. Period.

I was just presenting the story, @The Man. If Crimea wants to be part of Russia, then the people have spoken. Thanx for the input.

First time in history that I know of where a candidate for political office has encourage another country to commit espionage on his political rival. By definition, Trump is complicit to TREASON if that happens, which makes him a traitor to begin with.

And isn't that what conservatives accuse Obama of doing, letting down our allies.

Guess it's ok when a republican does it.

It was conservatives that came up with "the Project for a New American Century" the plan for world domination that got us into Iraq and destabilized the ME.

Wasn't Crimea originally a part of Russia, and only put under Ukrainian control for geographical reasons, during the height of the Soviet Union?

We're still in Afghanistan and Iraq, because of who, again? It wasn't a Democrat, that's for damned sure.

And what happens if Putin decides that the Ukraine isn't enough, and rolls into Belarus, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania? Do we just let those slide too? I mean, what the fuck, they're just pieces of dirt, right?
