Do Donald Trump supporters agree with him on this: From Trump

"My entire life, I've watched politicians bragging about how poor they are, how they came from nothing, how poor their parents and grandparents were. And I said to myself, if they can stay so poor for so many generations, maybe this isn't the kind of person we want to be electing to higher office. How smart can they be? They're morons." –Donald Trump, New York Times interview with Maureen Dowd, Nov.28, 1999

    Politicians being morons?

This is an anti-establishment election year.

I would say Trump supporters and Bernie supporters alike agree with that comment.

Politicians aka insiders, elitist, statist, establishment types are all extremely unpopular at the moment.

This was billed as an Anti-establishment election year. All the anti-establishment candidates are out.

    Except for Trump.

Are you arguing Trump is establishment?

I fact all candidates were considered establishment with the exception of Sanders, Trump, and Cruz.

The biggest establishment candidates like Kasich and Bush were out early on. At least where votes were concerned.

My question really centers around his contempt of "poor people". How many American's are one pay cheque away from losing their homes? I would think he clumps them into the "moron" group.

How is it that politicians are poor?

They have a tax-payer salary of $170k a year, not exactly pay check to pay check and are usually millionaires within a few years of being in office with a lifetime of benefits that your average citizen will never enjoy.

I am not saying politicians are poor. I am saying Trump was making fun of them for saying they came up from a poor background. In his view that makes their parents and of course other poor people "morons"

    It makes the politicians morons.

Almost all politicians are wealthy before running for Congress.

Trump is promising jobs for all Americans. Hillary is promising jobs for the foreigners she intends to flood the Country with at the expense of American workers.

I think it's quite a stretch to think Trump has disdain for the poor.

    I call spin.

I call it repeating his words word for word.
I love when people say he speaks his mind and then back away from the words he says.
