    Prediction Nafta won't be scrapped

Given Carlos Slim's meeting with Trump in Florida I doubt anything will occur with Nafta of any significance.

"Slim, the son of Lebanese immigrants, made his early money by investing in Mexico at a time others were abandoning the country. His net worth dwarfs that of the property developer-turned-president elect.

He won control of the Telmex monopoly in the early 1990s and turned it into what was for a time the world’s largest private fortune. Slim has attacked Trump’s talk of ripping up Nafta, which threatens to undo two decades of increased economic integration with the United States.

The Washington Post reported Trump’s ex-campaign manager Cory Lewandowski travelled to Mexico City to arranged the meeting, which was to touch on topics such as trade and the economy."

Of course not, it would be silly to scrap NAFTA, it's a good thing.

Lo and behold, we FINALLY agree on something. But your Mr. Trump says it's like the WORST DEAL EVER.

Or was that the nuclear agreement with Iran?

He's just telling the people what they want to hear. The Iran deal was a different story.

I wish we would alter certain provisions, and update the treaty alliance.

First, though, look at the EU and take steps to avoid the issues they are having (Primarily, the issue of having un-elected bureaucrats run the continent...)

I also want to see a "NAFTA ID" card, that serves as a Green card (or the equivalent), in ALL three nations. THIS would solve much of our "illegal immigration" woes, as MEXICANS (and Canadians) could easily cross borders, to work and vacation, in the other nations. The fact that it is an ID, would mean that we can also keep up with people somewhat, although, certainly someone will find a way to fake them. We have laws that punish that.

Mexico, is a nation just WAITING to become a major economic player. The only thing holding them back is corruption in their system. All nations have corruption, but, in Mexico it is the norm, not the exception.

That's not what Trump said either. Goes to show you maybe they are exactly the same and what Trumpsters voted for was a dumber version.

Actually this is along the lines of Gary Johnson's proposals. Although to be fair I think he meant for the US to adopt the immigration policy from the beginning of the 20th century.

If the Libertarians had the foresight to get Bill Weld to stand in the primary I think they would've actually won a couple of states. I don't agree with Bill Weld on much but he is smart, educated and seems very decent. When people actually engaged Gary Johnson he came off as an olive short of a pizza.

Trump made trade a huge part of his platform, I don't recall Hillary even mentioning it.
