Do you read the site regularly? I don't. How do you gauge their service? against what.

I read articles when members cite articles.

Yeah, it's not somewhere I go to regularly but if someone points me to the place I usually check it out.

I guess I should take a look as it is so hated.

    RawStory

    Edit-

Am I mistaken that Raw Story is a clearing house site for posting stories from other sources?

Is the bulk of their content from other news sources?

    This story:

Trump’s Russia ties blown out of proportion, Clinton ally says

is from the International Business times.

A story on Tillerson was from Reuters.

'RS is a news aggregator from a progressive point of view. They 'editorialize' or spin many of these stories but bottom line they come from LOCAL TV affiliates, radio, newspapers, wire sources' and so on.

I choose to go to the original story for the information as I've mentioned a few times when stories have been presented here from RS.

You don't have an option for "can't rate them because I've never read them".

You mean UNLIKE Drudge on the RIGHT which is also a news aggregator ? Raw Story picks up stories from everywhere. Has links, does commentary "spin" on those stories or runs them IN WHOLE unchanged, unedited, unspun with their headline.

Though I haven't looked at Drudge in a couple of years, maybe they CONNECT to BREITBART or the Daily Caller or other the myriad of RW trash sites--they used to connect to CONSERVATIVE sites but known, as well as mainstream sources. Maybe they have gone to the dark side. Think of them as the original 'MODEL" for RawStory.

RAW STORY uses--local newspapers and TV affiliates, cable/network NEWS sources. They use the NY Times, WASH Post, USA Today, Politico, the Hill, REUTERS, Wall Street Journal, Military Times, et al.

Whoever put up this sillyass 'poll' doesn't WANT to get it. You're only pissed off because WE have one now. Their MISSION STATEMENT is not coy nor am I. Raw Story puts up stories from a progressive point of view. And they have driven many stories to the front pages before they were front page stories.

The Raw Story (also stylized as RawStory[2]) is an American online news organization founded in 2004 by John Byrne. It covers current national and international political and economic news and publishes its own editorials and investigative pieces. The Raw Story describes itself as progressive, bringing attention to stories that it sees as downplayed or ignored by other media outlets. It is owned by Washington, D.C.-based Raw Story Media, Inc.

    Overview[edit]

The Raw Story has been reported on and featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, LA Weekly, the New York Post, the Toronto Star, The Hill, Rolling Stone, The Advocate, Roll Call,[3] and Mother Jones.[4] With an average 10.7 million readers per month (2015),[5] the site is described by Newsweek as, "Muck, raked: If you're looking for alleged GOP malfeasance, the folks at rawstory.com are frequently scooping the mainstream media."[6]

This from the founder, John Byrne...(This is excerpted from an interview from his Alma Mater)

Jumping ahead, what did you do after graduation?

I was thinking about trying to start a college newspaper news service. I don’t know exactly how it would make money, but it would distribute content nationally. After graduating, I was working — my father’s a doctor — and I was working at his office filing medical records and it occurred to me — I don’t know if you’re familiar with the Drudge Report — but there was no liberal version of that. And so, when we started, it was a lot more aggregation, we’ve moved toward writing our [own] content, but it was sort of the liberal alternative to Drudge. And this was, maybe, three [or] four years before The Huffington Post. And so if The Huffington Post had started before us, I think I would be working for some dying mainstream newspaper. But the timing was good, and it took off, and we didn’t have any overhead as an online publication. We just started adding staff as we made more money.
