    Trump isn't playing me BP.

He was the only politician running on slapping tariffs on corporations who move offshore for cheap labor. So I'm going to give him the chance to do it. It's that simple. If he doesn't follow through on that, I'll likely find someone else to vote for next time around.

If you want me to comment on these incessant lies then you are going to tell me which lies you are talking about. I can't read your mind.

    ANOTHER, even STRONGER similarity:

--I remember hearing, for a DECADE, just how STUPID Ronald Reagan was.

Of course this is straight out of the standard Democrat Playbook.

--George Bush: Dumb. And yet....he defeated Democrats twice. (NOTE: by extension, when "Dumb" Republican candidates win, that is indicative of a "dumb" electorate. Which, can, in the short span of 4-8 years, do a complete turn around to "smart and well-informed" once a Democrat wins the White House. This is, of course, awfully convenient. And, again....one of the rare areas in which the Left is consistent....)

--Ronald Reagan: Dumb. But, restored the faith of many in their own nation, presided over a very good economy, and, oh yea, won the Cold War. (NOT too shabby for a "dummmy...")

    --And now, Donald Trump.......

Trump is playing 4D underwater backgammon and the press is playing hungry hungry hippos.
The press is easily distracted in the quest for that "big story." The problem is they are playing into Trumps claims of fake news. They are so eager to make stories out of a nonsense tweet, that the real news is not being heard. Barely a mention of anyone's confirmation process, they all skated by. Now the SC nominee looks to skate even with dem votes. Because they are focused on other dumb issues. The pressure now is heating up again with the healthcare and budget debates, it wont be long before another dumb tweet for a diversion and off goes the media. Its going to cause people to tune out. I already have friends who no longer are watching the news and don't want to hear about it anymore. Apathy will set in.

There is some truth to that.

But I believe the President threw that tweet out there to distract from the liberal democrat's Russian narrative - which was basically fake news as well.

The President would probably be delighted if the media would actually cover some real news for a change - instead of pelting him constantly with this Russian bullshit and the constant personal smears.

Just heard Joel Benenson, a former Hillary campaign staffer, lamenting that Trump is winning the battle with the media. Said the media "is turning a stupid tweet into a 2 week news story that is nothing." He was frustrated. Also made me laugh, he said Trump doesn't see the sky as blue but green and is slowly convincing the media he is right. lol

Well he claimed that's why he did his rallies this week, because the "media lies." People have lost a lot of faith in all sorts of things and the media is going to be one of those things. There now really is so much fake news all over that eventually people will just not bother with it at all.

Well on that I agree. What ever small amount of credibility the media had left, they have definitely squandered in the wake of this latest election. I actually find myself laughing when I turn on the news now because it is so obviously politicized and bias.

Trump has certainly succeeded in upending the media by goading them into a personal vendetta.

News has changed a lot. Now someone tweeting is newsworthy. Our little local newspaper has been making so many retractions and apologies because they publish a quote and then find out it was a tweet that was meant to be a joke. Its stuff like this that is going to make people pissed and tune out. Tweets aren't news.

    lol

Well I can't argue with you here either. It is pretty absurd that the President can tweet something and then have it instantly becomes a media obsession for the next couple of weeks. Trump has been playing the media like this through-out the campaign and now into his presidency. It's just sad they have yet to catch on to his schemes and continue to play right into his hands.

But you're right. When tweets take precedence over important actual news stories - like the fact we are deploying hundreds (perhaps thousands) of troops into Syria - there is a definite problem.

I live near the Canadian border and get CBC news. So much else happening and barely a peep here. I think of tweets (everyone's not just the presidents) like Wikipedia. Everything needs to be verified or else for all we know it could have been done at 2 am when they were drunk. Not a source of news by any stretch. I can just see students using tweets for their sources..
    Thanks from Jeremy
