    Unpredictable. Unhinged. Dangerous.

    Unpredictable. Unhinged. Dangerous.

Many South Koreans are using those words to describe the president of their most important ally, rather than the leader of their archrival to the North. They worry that President Donald Trump’s tough, unorthodox talk about North Korea’s nuclear program is boosting already-high animosity between the rival Koreas.

No matter whether Trump succeeds at getting North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons and missile programs, his actions, comments and tweets are changing how the region views the long-running conflict. Senior North Korean officials see their relations with Washington as even more volatile than before. China is appealing for calm, and possibly re-examining its role. Japan is weighing a retaliatory strike capability against the North.
South Koreans may be uneasy about North Korea’s expanding arsenal of weapons, but many doubt that the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un, wants to start a war that would likely end in the destruction of his government and the ruling elite. Donald Trump is another story, judging by widespread concern posted on Twitter.

Some see him as a hot-tempered, unpredictable leader who might attack North Korea before it masters the technology to build a nuclear-tipped missile that could hit the U.S. mainland. North Korea is moving steadily toward that goal, and some experts believe it could achieve it during Trump’s presidency.

U.S. strikes earlier this month against Syria, coupled with Trump’s dispatching of what he called an “armada” of U.S. warships to the Korean region, touched off fears that the United States was preparing for military action, though it was revealed this week that the flotilla was taking a roundabout path to Korean waters and has yet to arrive.

SEOUL, South Korea — When news broke less than two weeks ago that the Trump administration was sending the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson to the Korean Peninsula, many South Koreans feared a possible war with North Korea. Others cheered for Washington, calling the deployment a powerful symbol of its commitment to deterring the North.

On Wednesday, after it was revealed that the carrier strike group was actually thousands of miles away and had been heading in the opposite direction, toward the Indian Ocean, South Koreans felt bewildered, cheated and manipulated by the United States, their country’s most important ally.

“Trump’s lie over the Carl Vinson,” read a headline on the website of the newspaper JoongAng Ilbo on Wednesday. “Xi Jinping and Putin must have had a good jeer over this one.”

“Like North Korea, which is often accused of displaying fake missiles during military parades, is the United States, too, now employing ‘bluffing’ as its North Korea policy?” the article asked.

The episode raised questions about whether major allies of the United States, like South Korea and Japan, had been informed of the carrier’s whereabouts, and whether the misinformation undercut America’s strategy to contain North Korea’s nuclear ambitions by using empty threats.

Compounding their anger over the Carl Vinson episode, many South Koreans also were riled at Mr. Trump for his assertion in a Wall Street Journal interview last week that the Korean Peninsula “used to be a part of China.” Although Korea was often invaded by China and forced to pay tributes to its giant neighbor, many Koreans say the notion that they were once Chinese subjects is egregiously insulting.

Can anyone blame them? If war comes it will be the Korean peninsula devastated and not the United States.
Trump Tower will not suffer a single bomb strike.

It has been said that China has more deals with Un's govt than they've revealed and that they could indeed bring a lot of economic pressure on N Korea. But our genius President is talked out of any real deal to bring that pressure in ten minutes in a meeting with the Chinese. Trump's resolve on just about any issue can be broken in a flash. Some deal maker! This current situation is what we Trump haters feared the most. I don't know how anyone can still support this guy anymore. It's baffling and very scary.

Take the incident of the armada sailing to the Korean Peninsula except that it wasn't. Like everything else about the Trump administration, the truth is hard to tell. Trump, Spicer, NSA and DOD all said it was sailing to Korea. Spicer is now saying that they were going to Korea by way of Australia so it wasn't misleading. Except that it was. Well, that's a strange way of putting it but the alternative is worse: that they didn't know and were confused. NSA and DOD don't know?

I'm completely stymied. I don't know what the hell is going on! Look at all the players right now....

Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, N. Korea, Russia, Syria? Is the idea to blow up everything simultaneously and deal with it in one big conflagration? Or just POSTURE, putting everyone on NOTICE and pray we don't have to back anything up?

If one of them tells us to stick it and we 'encourage' another ground war, do we have the manpower? OR DO WE JUST BOMB THE SHIT OUT EVERYTHING STANDING OR WALKING, therefore precluding any boots on the ground anywhere? When (not if) does the law of unintended consequences kick in? Something BLOWS UP. Isn't likely to make, by proxy, one of our 'protectees' VULNERABLE by one of these countries, as we press another? What are we scaring IRAN with? What are we scaring N. Korea with?

Do we have the MANPOWER at State in place (didn't a bunch of TOP LEVEL resign en masse in late JAN) to even deal with NEGOTIATING a new deal in Iran or Syria? And if negotiating any new DEAL who signs on this time? Are the other countries that signed on to the no nuke Iranian deal just going to say FUCK YOU?

I don't have a clue why NOW and more importantly what the hell are the possible outcomes??

Or is this a DEFLECTION from the RUSSIA TRUMP CAMPAIGN COLLUSION which is quietly building its case in the background??

Even after reading explanations of how it came to be that Trump, NSA and DOD didn't appear to know where the ships and were still weren't able to lucidly explain WTF happened!
