U.S. Set for a Crackdown on Illegal Hiring

    Source: International Hearld Tribune
    Aug 8, 2007

Last week, Homeland Security officials said they expect to soon announce new rules requiring employers to fire workers with questionable Social Security identification numbers. Employers would be notified when a worker's name or Social Security number is flagged by the Social Security Administration.
Employers who do not comply could face fines of $250 to $10,000 per illegal worker and incident.

ICE will be stepping up raids to enforce these new rules. Its about damn time. If you know of an employer who hires Illegals Call I.C.E. at 1-866-347-2423. Do your part as a responsible citizen to stop the madness.

And then what, the fired illegals get unemployment, state dental, get tossed on the street, what?

See, this is government bullshit right here. What would you rather have, 30 employed illegals in your town, or 30 unemployed illegals in your town sucking up resources, using the ER as a doctors office, and whatever else homeless people do to funk up a town. The only people this punishes are the business owners who are presumably legal residents. Take their jobs, fine, but then toss them out too, don't do this half assed shit where I'm going to be forced to eat the bill for these people.

If they're working illegally, it would be kind of hard for them to get benefits wouldn't it?

I don't know, you would think it would be hard for someone who steals from an employer to get benifits too but it happens. So then what's the deal, you take a family living pay check to pay check and just fire them, where do they go what do they do? Can't afford to go home, can't afford to stay here. How does that benifit a community?

Like ICE is really going to do anything...

Let's be realistic here folks. If ICE were REALLY doing its job then they wouldn't need YOU to do it for them, now would they? They wouldn't be relying on local police to do their job for them, now would they? ICE is INS by any other name: Slow, inefficient and pretty much useless.

Clearly the solution is to ditch the welfare state, or at least have the sense to recognize that the nanny shouldn't be taking care of the neighbor's brats on your dime.

Clearly the solution is to arrest the employers of illegals, fine them heavily, use those monies to pay for additional enforcement.

I think you miss the point. Yes those illegals first fired will stay. some may go home but most will stay. But the fine for the employer is a huge thing. If you have hundreds of companies around the country recieving fines, it will change the nature of how businesses hire. Businesses would be far far more likely to not hire illegals later on. Shrink drastically the quanitity of jobs for illegas and they will start going back to Mexico or at the very least new ones not tempted to come here illegally.
