This thread was addressed to people who are willing to admit to being Trump supporters. That was the perspective I was interested in hearing from.
There are those who keep saying they did not vote for Trump and do not support him yet they show so many times that they, in effect, do support him or they wouldn't bother answering postings in his defense. You see, by doing that they are not fooling anyone. They give themselves away each and every time that they are, in effect, closet GOPers and fully For Trump. Period.

I think if you take the example of how people don't want to mimic the poor behavior of others then yes it is wrong. But does he deserve to get back what he gives? Yes, everyone does, but it is up to the individual to decide whether to drop down or rise above a certain level of decency. Politics is a disgusting business.

@Engine-Ear has more nuance than that. Much more.

It's just that this thread wasn't intended for someone as thoroughly moderate as he.

    Ok, I guess I'll bite.

It would depend on the context and circumstance. The same as with anyone else.

If the President is merely reacting by showing the same kind of disdain that was first shown to him then it is entirely justified. I find that to be usually the case. Not always. But usually.

Problem is that it wasn't "first shown to him". He broke into political fame by being a jerk to Obama. And before and after that he has been racking up the cruel and jerky points.

He's way ahead in the jerkiness. People are giving back to him what he's been dishing out heavily for a long time. And he's acting like he didn't do anything to earn it.

He's in perpetual *poor little me* mode.

I have never seen President Trump in "poor little me" mode. lol

So we'll just have to agree to disagree about that.

You'll have to be more specific about what you mean when you say being a jerk to Obama. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe you were meaning the conspiracy about where he was born?

If that is case: didn't really see that as Trump being a jerk to Obama. And I never saw any evidence that President Obama took it that way either. He seemed to think the entire thing was rather amusing.

    ....

You've seen it. You're just letting it wash past you.

The most flagrant example was when he said, "No politician in history — and I say this with great surety — has been treated worse or more unfairly" than him.

But, to be fair, with the historical ignorance he has demonstrated, he may not have been aware of the presidents who had been assassinated.

Obama "seeming" to find it "rather amusing" is an illustration of how someone with class and/or savvy would approach the kind of attacks that Trump made. The way to handle the matter without revealing too many buttons, and without shooting one's own agenda in the foot.

Obama was treated horribly and for the most part in public he ignored it.

Trump lashes out and makes things even worse.

His lashing out is another example of his *poor little me* mode. He and his family and his staff are trying to spin it as him being a "fighter" in a good way. But he's obliterating his ability to function in a presidential capacity. His grotesque (and ironic) reactions make him a laughingstock. Republican politicians who have tried to rally around him keep having to distance themselves from particular attacks he makes. Less than 25% of America thinks how he's handling himself on Twitter is a good thing.
