Because "I've got mine, fuck you" is the heart and soul of freedom and as such is entirely good and pure. They don't mind paying for the police, though, because they know they need them. So the question really is, we all know we depend on the society for our well-being and prosperity; why do some people seem to behave as if they believe they could thrive entirely outside of society's protective cradle? And also, where exactly do you draw that line?

And if you draw the line over here, and I draw it over there, one of us says, "Why are you such a short-sighted selfish dick?" and the other one says, "Why are you trying to put your fucking hand in my pocket, guilt monger?" And that's where the discussion ends.
    Thanks from Jets and Babba

It's one of the most prophetic, brilliant things anyone has ever said about anything.

    Suits me...

Even though it might be difficult for us at first, even though it seems liars and cheaters prosper nowadays, even in the face of voter disenfranchising, extreme gerrymandering and the Fox "ministry of lies" GOP political arm...

I still believe it is a worthwhile struggle, and glad you guys do too!

    Thx

Although conceptually I am on your side, I'm not so sure. There were way more loopholes and dodges legally available then.

    More true words.

Damn they were right my Father voted Goldwater and damn in 1965 my brother shipped out with the BIG RED 1 for combat in Vietnam...Then went back with the 101st in 1968.

maybe Goldwater should have worked with the Preachers, and 55,000 Americans would not have been killed.

How sad what has befallen our great nation because of liberalism.

Nice to see your "non-partisanship". When has Trump asked such a thing and by what examples in his life could he use to claim to be a leader in doing such? Trump. prior to being elected to President by the Electoral College, (without winning the popular vote) attacked his own government and people within it and was as or more critical of the people that did NOT elect him than Americans are of his actions.

What someone says, does not negate what they do, in fact, most people look to see whether what someone says, is matched, by what they do.

Most Americans had faith in JFK, even among a surprising number of the most conservative Republican, family and friends. Even you seem to be implying that such a statement transcended political partisanship, then you proceed to express your own partisanship with the suggestion that if Trump said such a thing (in light of his personal reputation) it would be rejected by "liberals". In addition, what was was Kennedy referring to? Cutting taxes (revenue) to help pay "down" the national debt?

The Kennedy's have been both lionized and vilified by people of both parties, but for all their shenanigans, tragedies for their family and others, because of their family, they did have a greater interest than themselves and their actions were historical evidence of that.

Was Kennedy perfect or without fault? NO!

But he was not a narcissistic, personally greedy, lying shyster, like the current person in the White House who was well warned about, before he became President by many people whose first and only knowledge of him comes from reality TV, as opposed to the people who have actually dealt with him and been cheated.

No, Kennedy and Trump are one in the same.

They Believed in Strong Defense, Cutting taxes ON THE RICH (Trump wants to cut taxes across the board Kennedy only wanted tax cuts for the rich). They Both attacked Russian Proxy nations. Kennedy's wealth came from Bootlegging, Trump's Real Estate.

Isn't that just made up nonsense? One could say the opposite with the same level of nonexistent validity.

    That is awesome.

I think the difference is Kennedy actually accomplished things and was not thought of being a total imbecilic dick.
