From The West Wing episode "Tomorrow:"

    Bartlet: How's your speech?
Santos: It's got some good sections, but no "Ask not what your country can do for you..."
Bartlet: Yeah, Kennedy kind of screwed us with that one, didn't he?

Yes, it is when I and other members of my family and many friends, all Republican, began to wonder what was up with the Republican Party. Nixon didn't help, but the hope was that he was an anomaly, not a shift in the party, but even Nixon helped with the institution of the EPA and that aligned with Theodore Roosevelt and the Rockefeller family takes on conservation of lands for public use. Strange as it might seem, but it was when Reagan removed the solar panels that Jimmy Carter put into place, that signaled something was not right with the Reagan and the support behind him. Then and for a fair period of time, I and other family members and friends still held out hope that the changes were more an anomaly than a longer term change in the party. George H. W. Bush moderated a bit, but then came G.W. Bush and that became the final straw for a lot of us that the GOP we were a part of was kicked out of this neo party and was unlikely, if not coming back, at all. The election of Trump, has confirmed the total loss of that once grander old party that distinguished itself with Lincoln's taking on human rights regardless of how he came to do so or how lacking it still may have been. Lincoln's moves, as with the moves of the founders of this nation, for all their other failings and faults, were progress, not regression. They were moving away from unjust oppression and suppression by those who put their personal desires and profit above all else and all others, but cronies whose only affiliation was their like-mindedness. I don't believe greed and selfishness are anything new to the world, but one might think collective memories might be better when it comes to remembering all the reasons why greed is NOT a virtue, but a negative for societies of human beings.

Whether Ronald Reagan intended to usher in another era of making greed and selfishness (always present, but not always prominent) prominent in our society, but if he did not, there seems little doubt that they became more prominent since Reagan became President and Trump, epitomizes that. We now appear to be in a struggle between which is going to win. continued greed and selfishness or recognition of the failings of such attitudes and a move away from them.

You're making leaps with some similarities, but leaving out a lot of fundamental differences. Kennedy did not stay at home when a war was going on and his entire family had and has done things to reflect the "ask not what your country can do for you........." Trump and family epitomizes asking what their country will do for them, even as they bash what it has done for them.

Kennedy didn't stay at home.. That is one reason I admire him

But lets look at the presidents you admire.. Did Clinton serve? Did Obama Serve? So the non Service is hypocritical for you to bring up.

    Trumps have been very charitable.

Kennedy's became rich and gained wealth from your tax dollars.

Trumps wealth was inherited, he is the ultimate Trust Bunny Drone. In fact he would have more money today if he had just bought Mutual Funds with his inheritance instead of all the sleaze bag wheeling and dealing he has done for the past 50 years. Fucker has never read a book or engaged in anything more intellectual than running his mouth about sex, politics and tooting his own horn.

Trump's net worth has grown about 300% to an estimated $4 billion since 1987, according to a report by the Associated Press. But the real estate mogul would have made even more money if he had just invested in index funds. The AP says that, if Trump had invested in an index fund in 1988, his net worth would be as much as $13 billion.
    The S&P 500 has grown 1,336% since 1988.

Probably so, but Real Estate index funds wouldn't have grown as much without Trump and Real Estate investors like him.

So Trump not only made money for himself and others as well.

Now, you just proved my point of why SS is a Ponzi Scheme.

If you had taken 12.6% of your income and invested it in index funds.. you would be worth millions and if that investment had been inside a ROTH IRA, it would be tax free retirement

Since IKE had taxes on the rich as much as 90% i could see cutting them a little. He damn sure would not believe cutting them now was a good idea.
