There is one problem with your theory, Close Counts in Horseshoes hand genades shotguns and Thermonuclear bombs.

People forget that The Clinton administration allowed the selling of Kilo Class Submarines to N. Korea, which are capable of carrying Nuclear tip Cruise missiles they don't have to fire the missile from N Korea to CA, they can bring it by sub to the coast of CA and launch it from 1 mile away.

No, close doesn't count when you have a weapon that requires precision and sophisticated parts to work in a certain way. Grenades and shotguns can't be compared to causing a nuclear reaction. Also, lobbing a missile up high enough to be able to reach the other side of the world is a far cry from having a system to guide it there. Close to 3/4 of the world is water, and that's what they are going to hit if they try. If they do that... if they strike at us with a nuclear tipped missile, I would not be at all surprised if Trump responded with a nuclear attack on them.

It doesn't make sense to allow Seoul being held hostage to mean that we essentially give up, and they can have nukes, and now the whole world is held hostage.

Its not like I want to be blown up any more than you do... but you are giving North Korea far more credit than they are due for their capabilities.

What if it got struck by lightning, changed directions, flew up and hit a flying saucer, and the Martians got mad and invaded us?

The warheads NK has are not powerful enough to be effective without also being fairly accurate.

They would have to target the very core of a city to do big damage, the diameter of destruction for one of their nukes is about 2.2 miles, this for an air burst with a 5 lb. over pressure wave.

2.2 miles is about the length of Central Park in Manhattan.

So, with Seattle for instance, they miss by a mile or two and they might nuke a suburb or a big stand of trees instead of the downtown core.

    Thx

If it is hit by a kinetic kill vehicle (SM3or GBI) the intercept is spectacular and the warhead is shattered as the interceptor and warhead try to occupy the same little bit of space with a combined closing velocity close to 30,000 mikes per hour. The problem will be that every little fragment of nuclear material is still radioactive. Everything that has happened is old fashioned Newtonian physics not Einstein's physics or alchemy. It's not a perfect solution by any means but the volume of radioactive material is FAR less than the fallout from a ground detonation of the warhead, and it will be spread out over a large swath of the earth, minimizing the effects.

No it won't explode, things happen way too quick and the impact is far too violent to start the nuclear reaction. Once dispersed the nuclear fuel can not achieve critical mass.https://www.quora.com/What-happens-t...ease-radiation

China will say they did not attack you first and will side with NK. Bad decision.

China will certainly say they did not attack you first just because they splashed a rocket in the sea.
