Canadian Politician responds to hate with love courage

On Wednesday, a woman interrupted Singh's event in Brampton, Ont. to accuse him of backing Shariah, a system of laws based on Islam, and supporting the Muslim Brotherhood. The Ontario MPP is Sikh.

Video recordings of Singh deftly defusing the situation by urging his supporters to respond with "love and courage" and telling the woman he loved and welcomed her have since gone viral in Canada and the United States.

But some have wondered why Singh didn't tell the woman that he is Sikh, not Muslim. The MPP addressed that issue directly in a statement released Saturday night.

The heckler presents her side of the story. A "Rise Canada" Supporter Jennifer Bush interviewed @ Ford Fest says she wanted to draw attention to the follow

    1. Singh opposes the banning of head coverings.

Duh, the man wears a turbin, of course he is going to be against a law that bares someone from wearing something on their head (niqabs) when giving or receiving public service.

    2. Section 296 of the criminal code which was a blasphemy law on the books since 1892.
In Canada the last person conviceted was 90 years ago.Toronto atheist and Rationalist Society member, "Ernest Victor Sterry," was convicted of blasphemy in 1927 and sentenced to 60 days in jail. On 6 June 2017 Bill C-51, an Act to Amend the Criminal Code was introduced in the House of Commons by Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould. The act repealed section 296 of the Criminal Code relating to blasphemous libel, as well as various other provisions of the Criminal Code which have been ruled or may be unconstitutional.

I don't find any evidence that Singh was against this particular amendment. The protestor seems to be confused as he oppose a bill C-51 back in 2015 which became the Anti-terrorism Act of 2015. This had nothing to do with blashpemy but rather an anti terrorism law but the both bills and had co-incidentally the same number C-51 (although 2 years apart). The Anti-Terrorism act started as a bill (2015) that was overly broad and inherently flawed. It has the ability to target free speech and more specifically criticism of the government. Much like discriminatory and arbitrary practices like street checks and carding, Bill C-51 unfairly targeted minority communities. While the Liberals helped the Conservatives make this bill a law in Canada, the NDP party opposed it stood up for Canadians and proudly voted against it.

Sorry but in today's climate you need to take a stand.

Pushing stuff like this is a cop out.

You need to be condemning violence and telling us what you plan to do about it.

Not talking about love and courage.

What the hell does that even mean?

This politician dodged the issue pure and simple.

Why is it when anyone questions the support of sharia, they are automatically branded a hater ... an islamaphobe?

Islamophobia is a term created by the muslim brotherhood and CAIR to shut down the speech of anyone who questions their agendas.

The very fact that Singh used these terms in response leads me to suspect there was a reason the heckler accused this Sikh of supporting sharia and backing the muslim brotherhood.

I've been meaning to post about Singh. He's lightening in a bottle for the NDP. He's probably the only politician in Canada who could give Trudeau a sleepless night.

He handled this expertly. Thanks for posting.

The fact that you don't know what love and courage means speaks volumes.

Christian reconstructionists support the implementation of the Biblical OT version of sharia law, and the remaking of the US as a theonomy - yet I don't see Christians speaking out against that.
