Its ok if you hate Trump, no one will blame you for that, we all have opinions but yes, the left is going hysterical over him. Giving him a psyche evaluation without even interviewing him is ludicrous but the left seems to eat it up.

It takes away from legitimate issues the left has with Trump and makes them look foolish.
I always wondered who "the left" was. Now I know. "The left" is Lance Dodes.

Progressives, liberals, democrats in their current form basically.

Kind of the same as who the right is. Conservatives, most republicans, the Alt-right.

Its just a general descriptive term with a convoluted meaning but it gets the point across.

Yes, it got the point across. The point is that you project the behavior of a single individual onto an entire group of people, when you deem it convenient to do so.

I agree that this isn't helpful. I really dislike it when people do long distance diagnosis of either physical or mental ailments. It's one thing to hold that opinion and share it with your family and friends, but for a professional to do this publicly, it's just not acceptable to my mind.

Actually, no. Profiles don't make any determinations of mental state. They profile behaviours, not mental conditions, and they build a possible suspect pool of unsubs based on those behaviours. What these psychologists are doing is the exact opposite. They are observing behaviours, without any actual interactions, and making diagnoses determinations.

However, let us assume, for the sake of argument, that you were correct, and this is perfectly reasonable practice for psychological professionals. My original question still remains. How does this help in the current political situation? Does it inform Trump, and convince him to behave differently? Does it bring us closer to an impeachment? Does it make us less partisan?

Or does it just play into Trump's narrative that "The leftist Media" just wants to slander him? Does it embolden Trump to further attempt to marginalize the press? Does it anger Trump supporters, and fuel the partisan divide?

If the answer is the former, then, by all means, let's keep hammering away, and writing these articles, and op-eds. If the answer is the latter, then please shut the fuck up, and quit printing shit you know is just gonna piss Trump supporters off with little to no practical benefit!

Personally I don't see it as that big a deal. FBI profilers diagnose people all the time based on scant evidence. How closely does a Harvard professor need to "interview" the president when he regularly blurts out stream-of-conciousness snippets at 3am on Twitter? Is an interview really going to bring new evidence to the psychiatrist that he didn't already know?
    Thanks from steezer and Panzareta

    We all do.

All conservatives are the same, all Trump voters are Nazis, all Tea Party people are racists........both sides do this, welcome to politics.

    Generalization just makes it easier.

The FBI profiles to help increase their chances of catching a suspect.

Giving a mental diagnosis without interviewing the person is just not possible.

Its like giving a medical opinion with no tests or X-rays.

Its as dumb as someone like Dr. Phil who thinks he can solve someone's problems in 40 minutes.
