How is this even a little helpful?

Now, before I even continue with my opening post, allow me to remind everyone that I absolutely despise Trump. I loathe him with the passion of a thousand burning suns. I think he is incompetent, unpresidential, self-serving, possibly criminal, definitely fascist, and absolutely totalitarian. That being said, I saw the following headline, and all I could think was "What the actual fuck!?!?"

Harvard psychiatrist Lance Dodes: Donald Trump is a “sociopath” and “a very sick individual”

I a not even going to bother quoting any of this ludicrous article. If any of you want to dig deeper into this garbage, you may feel free. What I want to know is, how does this, in any way, help? Do mendacious articles, and hysterical proclamations of this sort make us less polarised as a nation? Does it bring us any closer to restoring order to the Presidency? Does it reach Trump, and inform him in any meaningful manner?

These constant stories of psychological professionals, who have never had so much as a single conversational session with the man, constantly making proclamations about his mental facilities is ridiculous, and really needs to stop. All it does is piss off Trump supporters, and confirm for them that "The Media" is just "out to get him".

Only when people choose to react without thought. How hard is it to ask people to stop, and think before they react?

Agree completely. Sometimes the best way to deal with someone is to let them burn themselves out. But now some in "The resistance" or whatever they call themselves, are going overboard to prove how awful he is. Its nutty and like you say just makes him tweet out stuff like "see I told you, the loony left or the violent left" as he says. Its also incredibly unprofessional and you just know that now that the bar has been set, future candidates and presidents will have this done to them as well by the opposition. It sometimes looks like "what can we do to make ourselves either just as bad or worse." Certainly didn't heed Michelle Obamas advice of "when they go low we go high." Crazy stuff.

Doesn't the FBI profile people all the time. which often includes a mental state diagnosis? With not so much as a minute of taped conversation much less the thousands of hours of taped speeches and conversation we have from Trump? I think it's called Forensic Psychology.

I think people are just jumping on the bandwagon of dickishness because they figure "it worked for them". The barcolounger analysis of Trump's personality disorders is just concern trolling. I don't really care. I'm way more interested in going after the enablers in Congress and the media.

Maybe but what happens when these assholes decide they can run for Congress too and win? Then we get a congress full of these idiots. All this stuff does is scare decent people away from running for politics and encourage reality tv stars to run. How long before Snookie runs? lol

Disagreed with the author. Whether one thinks the Goldwater rule is antiquated or not, this type of commentary does nothing but provide absurd rhetoric toward the President. Experts in the medical field should not be changing the standard because Trump is deemed the exception.

He got his 15 minutes of fame, I suppose, and you just made the guy even more of a celebrity by posting this OP. I'd never heard of him and probably wouldn't have, had you not posted about him.

So then, how was this OP even a little helpful?

Kudos to you for calling them out for this BS.

Its ok if you hate Trump, no one will blame you for that, we all have opinions but yes, the left is going hysterical over him. Giving him a psyche evaluation without even interviewing him is ludicrous but the left seems to eat it up.

It takes away from legitimate issues the left has with Trump and makes them look foolish.
