Did the (Extreme) Left get exactly what they wanted through the election of Trump?

It had to be obvious to anyone who observes human behavior that Trump is easily provoked and has very little self control.

Can the Trump negatives assure future successes?

So in terms of long term advancement for those who want a wholesale change in the country, does a President Trump serve that agenda better than a President Hillary?

Yes, the fact that our wildly unpopular man-child president is a Republican is beneficial to the Democratic party.

However, this silver lining comes at a terrible price to our country; a price that no self-respecting democrat would voluntarily pay.

I do wonder if it will change things or not in the future? Will our politics go back to normal after Trump? Or will we endure more celebrities and non politicians being elected?

Some of this is similar to Nixon times. Have seen many articles over the last few months comparing Trumps time in the WH with Nixon. How both parties re-made themselves afterwards and how it changed politics.

Not really, aside from the fact that Nixon was under investigation for crimes that would eventually lead to his resignation in order to avoid being impeached. There is also the fact that the Republicans under Nixon had recently made a play for blue collar voters by embracing white supremacy, while Republicans discovered in 2016 that the Southern Strategy was not yet an obsolete election strategy.

Aside from those two things, the Nixon administration had little in common with the Trump administration. Nixon might have been crazy, but he wasn't stupid. Nixon actually achieved significant policy changes while he was in office.

Faulty comparison in my opinion. Nixon wasn't crazy.

Not the crazy part per se, but rather the mood of the nation, divisiveness, anger etc. Washington Post did a piece last May about this.

Sadly, I do not think we are done with the celebrities and non-politicians running. I also believe we are not done with insane/evil people running, either.

But perhaps we can all be persuaded to nominate serious people for the times ahead, after all, if we as a nation become sufficiently disgusted with the present administration's head.
