    The grounds for impeachment were there, but there was and is no way the state legislature would ever do it.

    I totally agree with you regarding her application of her religion. However, admittedly from a layman's perspective, it seems to me that the federal judge technically determined who was the responsible party for her legal fees.

    Well then I guess their tacit approval of her behavior makes them liable.

    As I understand it, the judge did make that determination, because the case was in federal court. I was questioning the propriety of making the state responsible, since the clerk used private reasons for refusal to perform her public duties, which could (and IMO should) have made her responsible for the fees.
