Perhaps the people who are deemed "don't belong to anything" already understand the complex issues and solutions only take committing to achieving goals and improving well being - not committing to a group based on morals, issues, or politics.

Much like co-workers who have a task to do who don't let politics get in the way of the goal... regardless of how political it may be.

Clarifying: Social Liberal, Fiscal Conservative(not the batshit crazy of trickle down, the classic fiscal conservatism of Ike)
    Fiscal Conservative, huh?

What's your opinion of the previous administrations fiscal policy?

Nearly $10 Trillion in additional debt in only eight years!

Surely you have an opinion about that, since you are a "Fiscal Conservative".

you miss the point of not belonging.

not belong leaves you open to decided for yourself what is best and not having to toe party line.

think of it as politically fluid. LGRDI

I hated it. I am also a Keynesian and understand in massive recessions you need to run deficits to restore the economy, "austerity" during a recession just prolongs and deepens the recession. There was no excuse for doubling and tripling the deficits with massive tax cuts under Bush, and now Trump, when times are good, you need to pay down the debt, not cut taxes. I said like Ike, you are thinking like Reagan, Bush and Trump. Ike was the last Republican President to present a balanced budget, you knew that, right? And he didn't cut taxes......

In the interest of fiscal conservativism, old school, I would like to have seen the bailout money go towards taking over the banks, not just bailing them out, patting them on the back, and sending them on their way. We should have bought them, not borrowed them. And once we bought them, with money we've borrowed from our great-grand children, we should have split them up and shoved the component pieces back into the piece of the market where they belong, and re-drawn the anti-fraud, anti-trust, anti-scam rules of Glass Steagall, and collected our purchase money back from the profits of these vultures, returning them solvent and clean to the private market after they had earned their way back into our good graces.

Maybe it's too far gone for that, though. Maybe the relentless assault by Rush Limbaugh has rendered these institutions so powerful that the U.S. government literally has far less power than they, and has no choice but to bend over and take it on demand.

I do not belong to a party or a side.

I just recognize a/holes when I see them (and refuse to vote for them!)

*No. I didn't vote for Trump
*No. I didn't vote for Clinton

Actually it leaves you powerless. You think this country really came in existence because of the rugged individualist myth?

I gave you my answer, and if you are a fiscal conservative, what is yours when it comes to tax cuts that balloon the deficit when the economy is doing OK and does not need stimulus, such as 2001, 2003, and now 2017? My guess, you don't care as long as they benefit your party politically.
