Not really that complicated. Even in my son's HS class they never brought up the actual sexual acts of the LGTB community so I don't know why your getting that impression.

And as with everything in the CA schools, if parents want their kids to opt out of anything they have the right to do so.

Actually LGBT has nothing to do with "love".

It is explicitly sexual preference or sexual identification.

Well consider the source the OP used.

It's run by a well known anti-Muslim conspiracy nut job.

There was zero mention of sexual acts in my son's class.

No way is any state run school district is going to go there.

    OK???

I'm not seeing the problem here. Again, it mostly highlights the contributions the community has made.

When just teaching about the LGTB in the social science classes there was a huge backlash at the time that it would constitute "sexual brainwashing"

Yeah, it did not work out that way.

As reluctant as I am to defend California - this seems entirely reasonable to me. What is wrong with public schools requiring that homosexuals and transgender Americans be treated fairly and respectfully?

Bullying against gays is atrocious in our public schools. Steps need to be taken to prevent it - and educating young Americans about homosexuals is one way of doing that.

And this is pretty much the scope of practice surrounding this issue. Preventing harassment and violence.

This is why CA Schools are becoming worse and worse. Social Training should be left at home. And it is also one of the reasons they are 47th in fiscal Health and their Infrastructure is in the bottom of the US and dams fail and they don't have the money to do control burns to prevent massive wild fires.

But you get what you pay for the Pardon of Felons by the 1000s and the schools teaching everything other than the 3 Rs

It seems to me CA is trying to shoehorn individuals' sexuality into a history course, when their sexual proclivities orientations are historically irrelevant.

That is entirely different from teaching that bullying anyone is wrong, and that everyone must be treated respectfully.
    Thanks from Sassy

The 3 Rs: Reedin, Ritin', 'Ritmatic.

I did a speech at Toastmasters arguing that instead of throwing out the music program to focus on the 3 Rs, that the opposite should be done. The 3 Rs are not "Rs" at all, and from one of them you must drop an entire syllable to make an "R."

It's no more irrelevant than is their race - yet I didn't see anyone object to race being referred to in history classes.

Hell - there is even a Black History Month which is observed by schools. Do you object to that?

Why is to say Obama was our first Black President yet it's not ok to say so and so was our first gay President?

I have to go. But i'll be back later.
