Locking up criminals is one of the primary reasons we have government in the first place.

Around 40% of rivers in England and Wales are polluted with sewage, which poses a severe risk to the health of humans and wildlife, according to a new report.
Venice Battling Sewer Pollution In Famed Canals - tribunedigital-sunsentinel
There are no sewers in Venice. All refuse spills directly into the city`s 176 canals. As a result, there are three feet of sewer sludge at the bottom of most canals.

But there are ways to address these public health problems ! It is a question of public hygiene and when you finance and execute the necessary measures, the disease can be eradicated.

You do know that hookworm infestations can be mitigated by treatment, education, and sanitation - right? In fact, early in the last century such an effort did just that.

And creating criminals is the goal of "for profit" prison systems.

Guess you missed the posts about this, VB. We had a long thread about a man pulling a 5 foot tapeworm out of his body from raw fish.

Your article on Venice is almost 30 years old.

How many Italians, and Brits have diseases caused by lack of sanitation that go untreated?

On October 26, 1909, the Rockefeller Health Commission for the Eradication of Hookworm was organized with a donation of one million dollars from John D. Rockefeller. Although humanitarian reasons are invoked, some suspect that the motive was to open new markets in the Appalachian region by increasing net disposable income. Nevertheless, the five-year program was a remarkable success and a remarkable contribution to public health in the United States, combining health education, drug treatment, field work and creating modern health departments. in eleven southern states. Hookworm was a prominent part of the show in Mississippi in 1910. The program has almost completely eradicated hookworm. The program will culminate with the creation of the International Health Division of the Rockefeller Foundation.
In the 1920s, the eradication of hookworm continued in the Caribbean and Latin America, where a high mortality rate was observed among blacks in the West Indies at the end of the eighteenth century, in the descriptions from Brazil and South America. various other tropical and subtropical regions. The first treatment was thymol to kill worms, followed by Epsom salt to clear the body of worms. Later, the use of tetrachlorethylene became the main therapeutic method [ref. necessary]. It was not until the last years of the second half of the twentieth century that "new drugs" were developed from organic compounds.

In the U.S. at least criminals aren't "created" they're all "self made men." (and women) Can't forget them.
